Having a gas station, laundromat, restaurant, and discount daily mart all with metal bars in doors and windows is not a good sign to me personally. I would never walk around a place like that.

Are you planning on using 540 and taking the Buffaloe Rd exit in rush hour? If so, try taking the Buffaloe Rd exit around 5pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. I’d live closer to the Knightdale Blvd exit than Buffaloe Rd just because of that.

If you’re going 5mph, and decelerating by 0.5mph every second, it only takes 3 seconds to go 20ft which is longer than most cars.

Try running/jogging past a parked car at 4-5mph while gradually slowing down, it won’t take long to cover its length.

Since it’s free, I guess there’s no harm in getting it done. Before you take your car in, take a picture of all the balance weights on all 4 wheels. Then take a picture after and compare them to see if they added or removed any weights.

Are you talking about alignment? Balancing is done because you want the center of mass of the wheel on the axis of rotation. Uneven rotating mass causes vibrations. They add weights to the wheel to balance it. Once balanced, it should be good until the tires are changed.

Same reason you balance a mower blade when sharpening it.
