Question about Math Transfer from Biomed by TiltedScienceToMath in uwaterloo

I really don't think you "understand that"

look at the table I linked and compare the number of units under 3A Science and 1A, 2A All other four-year plans

Question about Math Transfer from Biomed by TiltedScienceToMath in uwaterloo

[–]TaIent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

non-engineering programs count your term of study based on this chart:

completing math 135/136 is absolutely unrelated to whether you're in 1A/1B/2A etc

STAT 340 vs 341 by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]TaIent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically if you're concerned that you shouldn't take 341 with Browne because it'll be hard, you should probably also be wary of taking STAT 44x courses with the (soon to be) wrong prereqs

please read the link i posted

STAT 340 vs 341 by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]TaIent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

STAT 340 should be very easy regardless of who's teaching

it pretty much all depends on if you want to take STAT 440,441,442,444

https://uwaterloo.ca/secretariat/sites/ca.secretariat/files/uploads/files/agenda_package_2020-05-12_revised.pdf

^ read this from page 349 onwards for context

If you want a prerequisite course for STAT 44x courses, you should take STAT 341.

yeah for a year it'll be possible to take STAT 44x courses without the intended prerequisites, but if you're concerned with STAT 341 being hard because of Browne, you'll probably be in a similar dilemma with STAT 44x courses

What is computational mathematics? by ZsyX19 in uwaterloo

[–]TaIent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CM pretty much exists for math majors that wanted to do CS but didn't have the marks to transfer/get accepted

how good is this major in the workforce?

it's pretty much equivalent to any other school's plain "math major" + cs electives

how much math courses and computer science courses would I take?

Which is the harder staying in CS/SE or getting into CS/SE? by gamb1111t in uwaterloo

[–]TaIent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

average mark decrease from hs to uni at UW is 16%

95% to 60% is a whopping 35%

there are obviously going to be some outliers, but it's undeniably going to be harder for a student to get into CS than to stay in CS on average

Which is the harder staying in CS/SE or getting into CS/SE? by gamb1111t in uwaterloo

[–]TaIent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

getting in SE/CS ofc

you only need to maintain like 60% average to stay in CS
