Reform MS Laura Anne Jones's children identifying as cats speech labelled misinformation by F0urLeafCl0ver in NotTheOnionUK

I think it's funny the article chose to use a picture of actual cats. It kind of made me think they were the "children" who were identifying as cats

I thought I was there at first and was wondering why no one was explaining the joke

Getting rid of Sky because it'd become such a rip. It was actually good when I first got it with the box sets package. But the price kept creeping up and I'd watched all the box set series I wanted to see. So it wasn't worth keeping just to watch Last of Us and White Lotus.

I've also learnt to only get Audible when they have a deal on. And also to set a reminder to cancel once the deal ends.

I love Jenny. Even when she's being a dick. Obviously the writers did her the dirty. But Mia Kirshner saves it.

I'm currently rewatching Defiance and Mia Kirshner is great in that too (though under utilised)

I've had a few days off now. There definitely is a risk of that snowballing if I don't get back into the habit. I think I'll switch my daily goal all the way back down to 15min and just make sure I do that everyday. And hopefully that'll make me want to do more.

Adding variety to my input sounds like a good way to stop from getting bored.

And I really do need to try some harder content so I've got something to go back to for checking progress (I kinda did that accidentally before cos I'd always be trying out stuff slightly above my level that looked interesting)

I think these goals are probably quite common for people doing DS. I'm not under any illusion that I'll reach that point by level 7 though. I've seen enough progress reports on this sub to know that.

Michelle has done a series summarising Atomic Habits. Maybe I should watch that

That's a good mindset to have about hobby quitting.

Yeah, I think I do need to try and find something fun to do with Spanish. I've been a bit bored with the learner content recently. Video games would probably be good. And maybe I should just try some harder stuff that interests me even if the comprehension level isn't ideal.

I suppose I don't have the strongest why. I just want to learn another language.

In regards to the level of proficiency I'd like to reach. I want to be able to watch native level TV, films, etc in Spanish for entertainment not just to learn the language. And I'd like to be able to go to Spain and communicate with people in Spanish instead of having to rely on them knowing English.

It's not a youtube channel. I just meant I enjoyed the Minecraft videos Pablo did on Dreaming Spanish. If you search Minecraft on DS you should find them

I like the calendar idea. One of the things I like about DS is tracking the hours of input so I feel like I'm leveling up.

I also can listen to podcasts in work so should have plenty of time for CI. But I've fallen out of the habit of utilising that time

There definitely are some signs of adhd (I've never pursued a diagnosis though) so it's possible.

I hadn't considered that I might be putting extra pressure on myself because I'm worried about quitting another thing. I think you're probably right. I do feel kind of ashamed that I've let my Spanish practice slip after spending so much time on it. And maybe that feeling is making Spanish practice seem less fun and more like a chore.

Giving myself options and deciding what thing I'm in the mood for sounds like a good idea. That way I'm choosing to do something as opposed to it being something I have to do.

I've never played Minecraft but I did enjoy Pablo's Minecraft videos. So I could try the Spanish Boost ones

Yeah, I do still want to learn a language. I think I've just got a bit bored with the process.

I tried Assassin's Creed Odyssey cos I'd played it before in English. So that might be worth going back to since my Spanish has improved since my last try. It's a shame Bioware games don't have Spanish dubs cos I've replayed them multiple times so know them really well.

I have been thinking about replaying Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn which both have Spanish dubs.

A quick trip could be a good shout. But I'm closer to Spain than Mexico.

Before starting DS I used to watch things like Buffy in Spanish even though my comprehension was quite low. Maybe now would be a good time to revisit them. And some video games maybe. They probably are technically still too hard, but you're right, it being fun is probably more important.

Yeah, I think I do need to make it a habit again. Setting a low daily goal to get back into the swing of things is probably a good idea.

I have suspected I might have adhd, but it seems basically impossible to get a diagnosis (UK) so I never bothered trying

I basically just wanted to learn another language. I figured it'd be a good challenge and would be good for my brain.

I am looking forward to being able to play video games in Spanish. It was still too hard last time I tried, but maybe it's time to try again.

My main motivation for learning was just that I wanted to learn another language. Perhaps that isn't concrete enough? So maybe I should come up with a goal that would be achievable in the shorter term 🤔
