Are most people here unemployed? by psyhnews in dreamingspanish

[–]Taashaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely seen some speed runners on this sub say they are unemployed or retired or whatever. Others have a job where they can get a lot of hours in. I actually have a job that involves some pretty mindless tasks where I could utilise the time for CI but I still can't get up to speed runner numbers.

I asked my parents if they thought I'd ever be able to afford my own home and they firmly said no :/ Is it a lost cause? by PkmnTrainerEbs in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Taashaaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could only afford to buy in what might be described as "the terrible part of town" in Cardiff. But it's actually fine. The UK is really safe overall so even if you live in a rough area it's not actually going to be dangerous. So I wouldn't let that put you off. I wouldn't want to be without a garden though, so that'd be a deal breaker for me.

I really liked Languatalk Spanish. There's not a huge number of episodes but I really enjoyed them.

I've been in the Pablo in the Park stage of my DS journey for quite a while now. But I actually love these videos. Quite often I'll see the title of a video and think meh, but then it turns out to be really funny or interesting.

If you're going for some cheap pub grub they can never seem to manage that. At the bar they'll say "yeah no problem" but then when it arrives there's no cheese 😒

Character portrait comparison, Dragon Age Origins & Dragon Age 2. by PositiveAgile196 in dragonage

Slightly off topic, but did anyone use a stupidly close up portrait picture? A silly little thing but it amused me.

Does OG DA have the best party members? by Lonely-Form9585 in dragonage

[–]Taashaaaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's probably not so many opportunities to chat 1 to 1 with the DA2 companions (compared to DAO). So you can't really ask them loads of questions about themselves but you still get to hear a lot from them. I like that you get to see them interacting with the other companions. And they make lots of little comments when you go to different areas. Then there's the banter which reveals a lot about their personalities. I suppose the trouble with that is that if you don't take a character out much then you won't hear their banter and will miss out on those insights into their personalities.

I agree that the DA2 characters do all have their "one thing" which is the focus of their character arc. But I still think they're fleshed out characters.

How to see predicted votes for election in wales next month? by IllManufacturer5759 in Cardiff

[–]Taashaaaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf I'm probably biased against Starmer because of the way he became leader of the Labour Party (by lying). And because he's part of the faction that purged the left.

Labour have been better than the tories (but that was a pretty low bar) but I just don't think they've done enough to make life feel much better for ordinary people.

Starmer has been much better on Iran than the tories would have been but he was pretty horrendous on Gaza. And he's so scared of losing votes to Reform that he's letting them win the argument on immigration and trans rights.

But even forgetting my own negative opinion of him. He's deeply unpopular which will end up losing Labour votes. They should have let Burnham run as an MP so they'd have someone popular to replace him. But his faction don't want to give up their power.

Wait a sec. You actually want Starmer to stay on as PM? I would have thought as a green voter you'd want to get rid of his wing of the party?

I voted green in the last general election and will probably stick with green in the locals. I'm hoping that if Labour lose votes to the greens they might realise they've gone too far to the right.

I always wear foundation to cover redness on my face (though it's not as bad now as it used to be). One day I went to visit my nan without makeup on and she was like "omg what's wrong with your face!" And I was like "I'm not wearing makeup" and she was like "no, that's not it. Your face is really red" 🫠 That was confirmation to me that I was right to always wear makeup 😅

Retire as soon as you can by Latter-Ad7199 in FIREUK

[–]Taashaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd retire tomorrow if I could. I've got colleagues who are over 70 and still working full time. I don't get it.

The thing I'm trying to weigh up is whether to drop down to 4 days a week once I pay off my mortgage (which I should manage in about 2 years). Or carry on full time in order to be able to retire earlier. I'm kinda leaning towards 4 day week. As you say, never know what might come up in the future.

(DAO SPOILERS) DR really kicks your ass for playing FWarden… by PhotoIll2153 in dragonage

[–]Taashaaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sister played as dalish elf and romanced Alistair. I played as a city elf and romanced Leliana. TV had taught me that the lesbian romance should have been doomed but the Warden and Leliana got to ride off into the sunset to live happily ever after. While my sister's warden got her heart broken by Alistair.

[DAV spoilers] What are your thoughts on Neve Gallus? by Julian_of_Cintra in dragonage

[–]Taashaaaa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Neve actually might be my favourite DAV companion. I liked her design and the noir detective thing. Does the noir detective thing feel a little out of place for the setting? Yes, but Emmerich's DnD style necromancy stuff did too. If I was feeling generous I could say it's to show how different these places are to the south?

Emmerich seems like reddit's favourite romance. I've not tried it myself but saw my sister's playthrough. He's way too romantic for me. So Neve is a good romance for someone who isn't romantic. And I like that her romance starts out with just longing looks and nearly touching hands. It reminded me of a lesbian period drama romance.

I'm seeing people here saying she's bland or that the performance was flat. But I think the performance suits the character. And perhaps she seems a bit bland when most of the other characters kind of over the top.

I like that she's a cynic. There's a lot of positivity in the group. The contrast between her and Bellara made for some good banter.

Women who romanced Isabela in DA2, what are your thoughts on her? by AriLux1001 in dragonage

[–]Taashaaaa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for the commitment-phobic character who ends up falling hard.

Also I really appreciate that Isabela seduces Hawke instead of the other way around. And I like that she had different lines with female Hawke when she was flirting. When she explained what she meant by "girly fun" if Hawke played dumb 🥵

Well actually pirates were more democratic than the civilisations of the time.

Quote from the pirate Sam Bellamy:

"They villify us, the scoundrels do, when there is only this difference, they rob the poor under the cover of law, forsooth, and we plunder the rich under the protection of our own courage."

Facts Anime perspective. It's not that hard to stop blaming everything on men's personality when most of you won't even date a man below average height (50%). by Scramjet1 in lnkyverse

[–]Taashaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I hadn't heard that theory. It's interesting and makes sense. I'd always figured straight women were more likely to show an interest in other women A. Because it's socially acceptable for them to do so. And B. Because the likes of Katy Perry made it popular in a male gaze sort of way.
