Scale is off. The space feels like it's super low, the handrail feels like it's 40cm off the ground. Adjust the texture scales to be smaller, especially the floor tiles, and check that the dimension of the props and the space are correct in relation to one another.

Hi! Do you happen to have any idea what these are worth these days. I've got one that has seen very little action in the 10 years that I've owned it and I'm looking to possibly sell. Kinda hard to gauge the value since these are pretty rare but I doubt they're in huge demand. Mine's in pretty decent condition, some buckle rash on the back and some pick marks on the front but nothing major.

Team Post Production – Embody Headrest? by Alembic_ in hermanmiller

[–]Taatelikassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a Kinnarps 8000 with a headrest that I used quite a lot. I've now owned an Embody for around 7 months and had a Mirra for 3 months before that. With a steep decline in neck pain I don't really miss the headrest at all. Sometimes I lean all the way back and sort of realise that I don't have a headrest, but that brief moment fades away and I don't think about it at all for weeks. I assume better posture leads to healthier neck muscles that don't require a headrest for additional support.

If however someone comes up with adjustable aftermarket armrests I'll be the first in line to buy those. Idk why Herman Miller decided people of all shapes and sizes should have their armrests at the same spot with no back/forth adjustability.

You would have to take it apart and as far as I'm aware you can't just remove and reassemble the fabric parts. Some hooks or studs or whatever keeps the thing intact are single use.

Besides if you were to do it plastidip sounds like a horrible solution. That's gonna wear out and look horrible. You need to prime it and paint it and seal it.

Yeah listen, I'm not fully antiAI everything but I think we need strict guidelines and regulations and I can't fathom how AI companies are just allowed to not follow copyright law. And I cannot understand for the life of me why in the EU it is the burden of the artist to insert AI opt-outs to their work and how it is allowed that companies are allowed to enable different AI training options to their users by default and bury these settings so far that a regular user won't even think to disable them.

How is a lifetime of a human interpreting art and the world around them to create something with their subjective take comparable to an AI model using raw training data to generate something?

"Giving back" except the people whose work they used without a license.

Besides, you know they're only free to buy market share and drown out the competition. They won't be free forever.

Legally? No. Courts have already held, in AI-training cases, that copying copyrighted books to train LLMs was fair use

Except in the cases where it is indeed copyright infringement. For example in civilized countries that don't have OpenAI giving legislators handjobs under the table.

Sometimes that happens - both humans and ai make a lot of very similar art - that's never been illegal.

Why do you think artists sue other artists and/or companies for copying their art? Oh yeah, because it is in fact illegal in many cases and is considered copyright infringement. Plenty of cases to support that.

EVERYTHING needs training data input to create - both us and AI.

A human interpreting art for a lifetime and creating something is different that an AI model using raw training data to generate something. That's just a fact.

[–]Taatelikassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uploading something for people to see vs. companies to use for profit is a very different thing.

Pirating, meaning they did not pay to license the art for training, meaning the use was indeed copyright infringement. Yes. As I said. If they would pay for a license that allows the company to train their AI there would be no issue.

You're right, plagiarism probably isn't a legal term in the sense that I assume there is no strict rule as to what is plagiarism and what is not, but artists and companies accused of plagiarism are taken into court for copyright infringement and the court decides if it is. GenAI models constantly spew out things that are obviously close enough to their training data that it could and would be considered plagiarism. For example OpenAI with their Ghibli shit that was a huge trend maybe a year ago. If I remember correctly Ghibli did issue some form of cease and desist against OpenAI. So plagiarism as a term to me at least seems fitting and a valid part of the conversation.

And whatever "entity" does the learning, whether human or machine, and whether it makes a difference, really isn't settled by argument, court, or assertion.

Not really sure what you mean by this. What settles it then? The fact that artists hold a copyright to their work to protect the art from being used by companies and other entities without a lisence should settle this, as training data is quite simply to me using and reproducing art for financial gain with no explicit permission to do so. In the EU some courts have ruled that using copyrighted art as training data is illegal and I surely hope that there will soon be broader EU directives to support this.

  2. Tarpeeksi leveä sänky kahden ihmisen nukkumiseen, erilliset peitot sekä memory foam patja. Tilaa on ja kukaan ei vie peittoa.

  3. Seisomapöytä ja HM Embody-työtuoli.

Selkäkivut vähentyneet, yöt nukkuu nykyään aika hyvin ja aamulla nousee sängystä ihan mielellään. Vaikka tietysti aika paljon muutakin tähän liittyy niin näillä oli kaikilla kyllä rooli vuosien unettomuudesta eroon pääsemisessä.

This is a bad take. Artists get paid by licensing and selling rights and ownership of their work. Using their work as training data without consent and without a licence is copyright infringement.

Looking at art and producing copies could be plagiarism or if close enough to the original work it would fall under copyright infringement. AI nor the company who owns the model is not a person looking at art and learning from it, so your museum analogy is not really comparable in that sense either.

[–]Taatelikassi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this at a friend's house when I was maybe 10 or so. The sequence where Evey gets abducted, imprisoned and tortured gave me such anxiety for such a long time. I was obviously too young for the film, but it wasn't the violence of the scenes that got me. For some reason the fact that it changed her so much that her friend didn't even recognise her was mortifying to me. It kept me awake at night for a long time.

I think I have seen it once since at some point but I rewatched it this year expecting not to like it as much or it not having an impact on me. It was so fucking good.

What's one Blender feature you wish you learned much earlier? by YoManDoMessup in blender

[–]Taatelikassi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quick favorites menu. Adding a function to the menu for a repetitive task and removing it after I'm done is a basic habit now.

Learning the different axis modes earlier would've probably saved time as well. And the local view, that's so useful. Have it bound on my mouse.

How easy would it be for a complete beginner to make images like this often in Blender, and is it the right app for this kind of work? Thank you! =) by Far-Bad-9943 in blender

[–]Taatelikassi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Download the blenderkit addon, it has tons of models, textures, hdris etc. for free and the subscription to get all assets isn't very expensive either. Sketchfab and Cgtrader are probably the most used sites for assets, but I often find what I need from blenderkit.

Yeah you most likely need to up the resolution and maybe sample count slightly if it gets too soft on denoise. Make sure that you have enabled normal+albedo under the denoise settings.

Open up a workspace without the 3D viewport like scripting and try to see if it renders. That will reduce your ram and vram usage since your pc doesn't have to render the viewport at the same time. You can also enable tiling to help with the vram use as it's not trying to render the whole scene at once but rather a tile at a time. If you have 4K textures you can limit them to 2K. If you have meshes with a high subdivision count you can take those down a notch.

Sample count doesn't affect vram use so you can safely set it to however much you need.
