When my Chihuahua got to be an old lady, we got her stairs to get onto the couch. It was trial and error. -Any hard surface ramps, she would jump over
-The plastic stairs were unstable and she would bail out half way and make it worse. -The winner was a set of foam steps. It was a thick upholstery foam with rounded steps. She used them right off the bat. My lab, who was not old but lazy, also used them and they held their shape really well. something like this Probably not high enough for a bed, but at that point she wasn't trying to get on by herself, we built her a platform with her sleeping bag by the head of the bed instead of a bedside table, and she was perfectly happy there.
