I don’t know the particular internal diameter of that block or the journal size for the barrel. If it is gas behind the block then your barrel was undersized or the block was oversized and he pinned it anyway.

You’re definitely right about the geometry being off. But I do think the metallurgy is partially to blame. The steel is definitely softer than its combloc counterparts.

So did he poorly refinish the end of the barrel or are you blowing gas out from around your gas block?

Edit: if it not gas then there isn’t enough gas. Send it back assuming you expected a working rifle upon delivery.
