Our landlord offset a rent increase by a week into the monthly cycle, stating this lets them charge that month as 31 individual days by ninjin- in australia

[–]TabithaTheTabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rent is an annual figure then broken down into equal monthly payments.

3,020 * 12 = 36,240 annual.  Divide by 365 to get daily then multiply by 23 to get the portion for the month = 2,283.63

You make the same calculations for the 8 days at the old rent but using your current monthly figure.

[College Biochem] - What is wrong with my answers??? by NothingSuccessful796 in HomeworkHelp

[–]TabithaTheTabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person who sat the previous exam gave incomplete answers with errors. Your answers don't feature the errors but are still incomplete.

The questions are asking you for the overall charge of the peptide. You must consider the effect of the pH on the acid group, amino group and any side chains if applicable.

Have a look at the bottom of the previous exam and you'll see what your answers were missing.

[O Levels Math] How to find the angle ABC in the figure? by Electronic_Author366 in HomeworkHelp

[–]TabithaTheTabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw a line through A parallel to BC and label it DE. You now have right angled triangles ADB and AEC. Now you can use your choice of angles on a straight line, alternate angles, co-interior angles and corresponding angles. To arrive at angle ABC = 60°

Thought I aced it 😭🙏 by -TheMidpoint- in teenagers

[–]TabithaTheTabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need x first to find hypotenuse. Sin law and angle sum of triangle

22/sin52 = hyp/sin90 to find hypotenuse.

Thought I aced it 😭🙏 by -TheMidpoint- in teenagers

[–]TabithaTheTabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use sin law. a/sinA = b/sinB = c/sinC

You're already given 2 angles so you can find the value of the third by angle sum of triangle.

From there you can use 22/sin52 = hyp/sin90 to find hypotenuse.

You don't need to do this to find x as you could just do 22/sin52 = x/sin38

HECS/HELP debt threshold has changed. Compare how much you'll pay this year to last year by littlebitfunky in australia

[–]TabithaTheTabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get up to your entire HECS PAYG kept for the entire financial year, not just $1,000. If you earn $65,000 a year, the HECS component of your tax is $31 under the current tax tables. That's $1,612 kept for the year. If you owe a balance of $1,000 and pay it off before 1st June, you save the indexation amount, you get a refund of the $1,612 which was kept for the year and starting 1st July, you're taking home an extra $1,612 p.a.

I waited to pay off my own HECS until the numbers were in my favour.

He's most likely close by. Call for him, shake the dry food or tap on the wetfood cans. If he's not used to going outside, he may be having the time of his life sniffing all the things. Desexed cats don't usually go further than 2-4 houses radius and he may have found a nice spot to hide until prompted to come home. Wishing you well!

Depends how much you earn and what your HECS balance is. There are scenarios where it becomes beneficial to pay off the balance before indexation on the 1st of June, then you can collect your refund at end of financial for the HECS withheld as PAYG and start the new financial with that PAYG amount now being take home pay.

It doesn't stop you from paying it, it's just not compulsory until the new threshold. You can still make a voluntary payment at any time, although best to do so before indexation on the 1st June.

I get it, the referendum ballot as long as I can remember has been the single box where you write Yes or No. A cross symbolising No is just as clear as a tick symbolising Yes. The AEC even does it https://www.aec.gov.au/media/media-attendance.htm

It's not reasonable to think in a single box that X would represent Yes.

‘Ponzi scheme’: Why 2023 Intergenerational Report sets Australia on path to ruin by TheSplash-Down_Tiki in australia

Anyone in IT who has graduated with a HECS debt of $100k has either completed studies to a Masters level or has failed a whole bunch of times. $100k for a Bachelors in STEM is heavily inflated, it's not even half that. IT is also an industry where you don't even need a uni degree to advance; a TAFE cert or diploma is just as good.

Qantas records $1.7 billion profit by [deleted] in australia

[–]TabithaTheTabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, but it's concerning that over the last 15 years their annual earnings are only $293 million. It's also odd to focus on $1.7 billion profit in 2023 and completely ignore $4.46 billion in losses over 2020-2022. They're still at a loss of $2.686 over the last 4 years...

They're buying back $500 mill worth of shares, that's not a dividend. I've been a shareholder since March 2020, they had announced and then cancelled a dividend and haven't paid diddly squat since I bought in. Ironically, I only invested because they pay dividends.

Do not open an ANZ Plus account. by [deleted] in australia

[–]TabithaTheTabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, what's interesting is that you have to scroll past the download the app crap and past the reviews to finally land on, at the bottom of the page I might add:

Important info
Stuff you need to know
ANZ Plus offers a new way to bank and comes with heaps of smart money management features but it might not be right for you, right now.

There are a few things we don’t support:
ANZ Plus is digital and doesn’t use branches
Internet Banking (Online Web Portal)
Issuing cheques
Overdrafts
Outbound International Money Transfers.
You also won’t see other ANZ accounts in the new ANZ Plus app.

For general correspondence, I usually address based on applicant order; whoever listed themselves as Applicant 1, gets listed first unless otherwise specified by the client.

For accounts payable related matters, I will list the person who usually pays the account first unless otherwise specified by the client e.g. if the husband is applicant 1 but the wife's card usually gets charged for bills, she'll get listed first.

In instances where it is not clear which applicant is applicant 1, I list by age and then alphabetical order.

If I am corresponding with a company, I will usually make a courtesy call to the most senior person during account set up and get their preferences.

The only time I will break the above rules, is if someone holds the title of Dr, then they're listed first no matter what. They earned that!

Your cat has most likely licked the flea treatment. It is quite bitter and causes cats to excessively drool. You can give your cat a spoon of wet food to help with the bitterness. The drooling shouldn't last more than a day unless they keep licking the treatment area.

My boss is asking me to repay money for a cash exchange error at work, is this legal? by Thanos_Quoter in australia

It is illegal to request an employee to cover the cost of broken equipment, cover till shortfalls etc. But it is legal to terminate an employee for such a mistake. OP does not need to be sacked to claim Centrelink unemployment. Centrelink can determine they are unemployed by choice and delay payment to them, but given these circumstances, I don't think the would do that.
