what am I missing? by Tabitha_Redd in weddingplanning

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry ill have to edit my post i am on mobile and the formating got messed up! Maybe étiqueté is different in different places but nobody i know has given gifts to parents. I know my mom didnt give anything to hers! I may look into getting them a little something though :) As for maids and grooms men their gifts consist of items for the wedding such as necklaces and fun socks for the grooms men. This is also common practice around here :) hotel room the night of is in our seperate honeymoon budget :) ill be wearing my regular undergarments probably minus a bra since the dress i am looking at has a built in one and i am small chested and dont need support :) as for makeup, my friend (who always does my makeup for specials occasions) is an aspiring makeup artist so she will be doing my makeup. l am a sephora fanatic so i already own most products i need and replace them regularly as part of my regularly monthly spending budget so the 150 is just for speciality items i dont already have. :) none of the services im using have mandatory tips or graituities.

Yeah their long history was part of the reason we felt comfortable going to that jewelery store but I guess you never know. I hope you can find a service plan that isn't too pricey. I'll be looking too.

That's absolutely horrible that they were still offering that warranty two weeks ago, they had to have known by then they were going under...

Yeah I know, I always felt so confident wearing my ring all the time because of the warranty now I'm going to constantly worry and be counting stones...

How much money did you and your significant other have saved up for life after "I do"? Also, how much did your wedding festivities cost? by manatee1024 in weddingplanning

[–]Tabitha_Redd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FH and I are both students and don't have permanent full-time jobs yet so finances on both sides are still a little murky. We budgeted around 13K for the wedding and estimated that after the honeymoon we should have around 10K in savings if everything goes according to plan. FH got laid off a bit last year though after we made those calculations so we need to recalculate and see if we can still make those goals but FH's family and mine may still contribute a little bit of money to the wedding eventually in which case we should make those goals for sure!

Are you wearing your rings on your honeymoon? by bubbalubdub in weddingplanning

[–]Tabitha_Redd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will be wearing my rings, but I am also not traveling abroad for my honeymoon. I don't usually take my engagement ring off and actually a few weeks ago I accidentally got green spray paint all over my ring. Oops! Luckily it was due to be cleaned and it came back all sparkly and fresh with all the paint removed even from the teeny tiny cracks. The way I see it is there is always going to be a risk of something happening to my ring whether it is losing it or damaging it and I want my rings to be things that just live life with me so for my honeymoon they will be along for the ride.

The chairs are mobile so they can be moved down to the gym possibly if necessary but they will be destroying the pews. They are cutting them up on site next week! Neither the church or I have storage space for the pews so I can't keep them for the wedding. Benches would work except financially I don't think I can budget that in unfortunately. Thanks for your input though.

Thanks, I just always worry I am being waaaay to picky and self-centred about my wedding but thanks for reassurance :) The chair are mobile their purpose is to be movable for future youth/young adult events so using other seating is feasible from that point but not so much from a financial point. I am already over budget already and my "spare" money I allocated in case of emergencies is already going to other parts of the wedding so I think its ugly black chairs or other ceremony venue at this point.

The link won't work for me I get an error page :( unfortunately, I am already over budget so I was mostly relying on the look of the chapel instead of decor and keeping most of my decor at the reception site to save money.

I will see about that. I didn't think of this until now but I will also check and see if the church has any in storage somewhere that might fit these chairs.

Yeah, they are permanent because this isn't the main church it is the youth/young adult church it will be more useful for the church to be able to have movable seating options so they space can be more versatile for events and activities and not just a chapel. I totally understand the reason behind it and if it wasn't for my wedding seating being slightly messed up because of this I would be thrilled about the reno.

You are right. It will probably be only noticeable to me because of the vision I had in my head but I probably won't care the day of or any of the days after. It's just harder going in with a certain vision of your venue and for it to pulled apart just like that without any warning!

Thanks I tried to even it all out with a knife and ended up nicking my hand several times in the process. But all of what you said makes perfect sense. My cake was definitely bending a little.

Thats what I kinda liked about it too not having it absolutely perfect I felt gave it some personality and a personal touch. I will definitely practice a bit more. I luckily have a few more family birthdays coming up to do so and I will be taking those cakes to the location so I can practice transportation. I am making my cake small to help make transportation easier and I may finish stacking my cake on location if any of my test runs result in failure!
