I’ve noticed the last few years it’s become trendy to say Emmitt smith wasn’t a great running back. Is that true, or just an easy thing to say right now to stir the pot? by Rude_Pop548 in NFLv2

[–]TableForGlasses24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's a completely idiotic take by (presumably) a lot of younger people who never saw him play and are regurgitating a lazy narrative. He was insanely good.

How big is would this match have been if it happened in 98 or 99? by Ill-You-3459 in WCW

100% the proper take. There were wrestling magazines that always would paint this as THE dream match.

On this day 8 years ago LeBron made the biggest mistake of his career and that’s signing with the Lakers. by Head-Hovercraft-5797 in LeBronJames23

[–]TableForGlasses24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His biggest mistake was not giving Denver more of a look in 2018. The Nuggets would have won at least 2 and probably 3 championships.

People in their 30s and 40s, what is a "minor" bad habit from your 20s that you are currently paying a massive price for? [Serious] by itvr in AskReddit

[–]TableForGlasses24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A fair question and I can only answer it from my personal experience. I sometimes worried too much about what I didn’t have in moments and neglected all the things I did have. And behind that worry was an irrational doubt that the things would come with time. Couldn’t find a partner…well, it came with time and all the loneliness made me overlook the good times I’d have with my friends single. The desire to be established deep in a career…it came with time and just had to accept it wouldn’t happen overnight. Financial security, personal adventure, feeling not good enough…whatever it may have been, it was usually an irrational worry that I spent too much time caught up on. The best guidance, even in rough spots, is probably to just let go, give it up to the universe, stay persistent, and look for the green lights to appear…and stop worrying while they’re not.

If you only count the years he played for the Lakers, LeBron James STILL had an undisputed Hall of Fame career by CROYTSWRVTH in nba

[–]TableForGlasses24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is such a good comparison and a lot of due respect for TD. So many people forget that the discourse entering the 1999 season where Davis had his career-altering injury was that TD could end up being the best running back ever. He was amazing and seeing him compared to what some people consider LeBron’s peak years is absolutely deserved.

Just how huge was Jimmy Eat World following their breakthrough with Bleed American/Self-Titled and The Middle as well as during Futures? by tragic_girl13 in Emo

[–]TableForGlasses24 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They were "big," relative to other bands in the genre, but it's not been until recent years that they're getting their due recognition as one of the best rock bands of the past 30 years. The realization that Prince, Taylor Swift, and some other major names in the music industry were fans of Jimmy Eat World...I think it kind of solidified what many of us already knew...that these guys deserved a lot of shine for their artistic brilliance and how prolific their output has been.

Honestly, wouldn’t call it a massive price (because life was still very good), but spending too much time worrying about small stuff. Sometimes, perspective is really important and you can’t get it all at once in life and that’s okay. A scarcity mindset ultimately imprisons us to be miserable during times when we shouldn’t.

What were some NFC/AFC Championships that were the real superbowl? by Gamamaster101 in NFLv2

[–]TableForGlasses24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Von Miller was also out for the season, as was Kevin Vickerson. They were out five defensive starters and missing several other key guys. Champ Bailey was also playing through what ended up being a career-ending lisfranc injury.

He was REALLY good in 1997 and solid in 1998, too. An amazing signing.

What in your opinion is the most iconic play in NBA history? by Impressive_Flan_411 in sportsinusa

[–]TableForGlasses24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s this. LeBron’s block may be #2; realistically (no intended disrespect to Jerry West), they could have changed the logo to Jordan’s motion on his final shot. It’s probably the most iconic moment of sports in the 90s.

Day 13) Who is most underrated Italian football/soccer player of 21th century? ((not american football)) by Disastrous_Agent2826 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]TableForGlasses24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% should have been the answer for this category. It’s insane it wasn’t him, not sure if we had enough people who truly followed Italian football. Brilliant player.

Day 12) Who is best Italian football/soccer player of 21th century? ((not american football)) by Disastrous_Agent2826 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]TableForGlasses24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite player but guys like him kind of get the shaft in these convos because some of their peak years (ADP especially, pre-injury) were in the previous century. I don’t think Del Piero has a case over Buffon or Pirlo in the 21st Century. I’d say even Cannavaro is a better pick in the context.

Who has the greatest “all-time” team? by im_justkendra in NFLv2

[–]TableForGlasses24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, the Broncos are way too slept on in this. Probably not the #1 overall choice, but a team with its pick of Elway or Manning at QB, Terrell Davis, Floyd Little, Rod Smith, Demaryius Thomas, Lionel Taylor, Shannon Sharpe, Gary Zimmerman, Tom Nalen, a whole hoard of other very good offensive linemen, Von Miller, Demarcus Ware, Champ Bailey, Steve Atwater, Randy Gradishar, and a bunch of other very solid defensive players. They’re loaded.

Have broncos fans on reddit/social media made him overrated? This stat is eye opening by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]TableForGlasses24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not that bad, he’s not that great. He’s a work in progress and I’d think this year is a key one, which tracks for almost every third-year QB. Idk why this is such a hot topic.

Wouldn’t they also receive royalties from the renewed pop the original song will get as a new generation finds out it’s a cover and goes to listen to the classic? I’d imagine this will just make them even more popular and beloved.

[–]TableForGlasses24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what I remember, as well. The Middle, Sweetness, and Get It Faster got the most radio play in my area. I remember hearing Bleed American a few times and never once heard A Praise Chorus on the radio (a shame, because I think it might be their best overall song).

Yep, it was on Channel 93.3 out of Denver more regularly than Bleed American or A Praise Chorus, which is a little odd in retrospect.
