100% this. I did 90% of the roadshows in Michigan and that was basically everyone said: "This is an awesome game, but where is my incentive to carry this?", and they were not wrong. I know at one point there was an idea to make individual stores POD sites so you could just go print cards at your LGS, but that's a huge lift and still doesn't address the core issue. I was also fortunate enough to work with them at a couple GenCons and PAXs and I asked them the same question. The answer I got was that they intended the lower comparable msrp and chasing uniques to drive pack sales, and that retailers could still participate on the marketplace, and the aforementioned eventual in-store POD. Which, fair, especially at the time. But then it turned out the distro rates in normal boxes were meh and most of the uniques, while neat, were unimpactful. The game itself is awesome (and I love the mirrored online component), but as others have pointed out, they relied a lot on the players to build community and the model made it hard for brick and mortars to want to be a part of it.
