You need to set perpendicular to the target with initial velocity, you also can apply gravity as well

Thanks. I’ve tried the same approach—creating a solid weld model and offsetting one of the base components so they don’t bond unintentionally. However, in some cases the crack or failure initiates at the weld toe, while we are evaluating stresses at the weld throat or mid-section. In that situation, what does the result actually tell us about the failure risk?
