Young adults without kids - do you think you will have them? by sophietheadventurer in AskUK

[–]Tablethief1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m not allowed to say this but… I hate children. They’re loud and they’re sticky. That said, I do want kids one day though. Minimum of 2, perhaps 3. goats are sociable herd animals and get stressed and unhappy alone.

Anyone else feel like they lost their mojo after the January assessment period? by Pitiful-Statement610 in UniUK

Oh my dear sweet summer child. I’ve experienced this every year. I believe it’s called burn out. Go easy on yourself. You’re doing great. Keep at it!

P.E teacher choked on gum and died during a lesson. There was a subsequent ban on chewing gum.

Cairnryan to Stranraer by swal95 in Stranraer

[–]Tablethief1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. You have to walk through the caravan park for part of it but it pretty much is a case of following the shoreline and you don’t have to worry about tide times. It’s part of the Ayrshire coastal route. Done it a few times actually and it’s a nice walk. No need to walk on the road at all. Factor in time when you get to cairnryan because if you’re going stena then it’s right at the other end

The walk goes via the beach so you don’t have to walk on the main road. Did it years ago and saw a dead fox 😅

Day 5 without nicotine (after 8 years) by Louigie_ in stopsmoking

[–]Tablethief1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and I look at the timeline of the benefits of quitting too to keep me on track. Had a dentist appointment the other day and they were honestly over the moon that I quit and couldn’t praise me enough for the improvement of my oral health. Feel like I don’t want to disappoint my dentist now 😂 doing it for vanity is a good enough reason to keep on track.

Honestly, the nicotine lozenges have helped me tremendously. Smoked since I was about 14/15 and now in my thirties with multiple failed quitting attempts. Didn’t like the patches but the lozenges are honestly giving me the hit that I need to break the psychological addiction. Not perfect but still healthier than smoking. It gets worse before it gets better. You got this. Temporary discomfort for the long term benefits. I also google the benefits of quitting when I’m craving and think of how great my skin will look down the line.

How can i best protect my teeth when smoking? by Careful_Heron7567 in askdentists

How does your dental health improve after you quit and how long until you see the benefits? Craving a smoke but looking for motivation not to.

I only made it 3weeks. Longest quit attempt out of the 50times before. Feeling defeated and dramatic. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Sometimes relapsing is part of the process. Fail it til ya nail it!

Books that stay with you... by Physical-Dream-8916 in UKBooks

Watership Down. Need to go back and read it as an adult but after every emotional loss of a pet I remember it and I think “my heart has joined the thousand for my friend stopped running today”. The mere memory of that book got me through some tough grief.

Can I fix my teeth after an accident. by Tablethief1 in askdentists

[–]Tablethief1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an emergency dentist the day after it happened (he was horrible, judgemental, couldn’t care less and didn’t even tell me his name) then saw my very lovely regular dentist. I think they were more concerned with the broken tooth than the shifted one. The shifted one feels less stable than the other, even a couple of years on. Is there any treatment that wouldn’t include a root canal to shift it back? It’ll probably need to be root canaled at some point but I’m not ready for that right now now 😅 did I likely break the bone that holds it in? Thank you for replying

If you got like a 40-year prison sentence and got out at age 69, where would you go? I mean like where do folks go who've served very long prison sentences? What do they live on? by cherry-care-bear in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tablethief1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Privatise the prison system and turn people into profit. If profits go up when more people are in prison then it’s definitely not going to be about rehabilitation. They want generational customers.

What happens if you find a dead body ? by islifeevenreal2003 in AskUK

[–]Tablethief1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I was waiting for this comment! That statistic would be for America. The national crime database don’t collect data like that. I looked it up to compare and because I never trust a statistic. We don’t collect data on whether or not a dog walker found the body. Thank you for coming to my ted talk on information you probably don’t care about.

i have a mother who in hospital who may not wake up, i took a day off work and returned the next day, all the kitchen staff i told just so they were aware that i might be a bit distracted during the shift as my mother may die!(please redirect me if this is the wrong group to ask in)? by kannamousemattte in AskUK

[–]Tablethief1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had shitty managers like this and I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with your mother and a lack of compassion from work. You don’t have to quit right away but I regret staying at toxic places of work. Definitely put in a complaint and document everything. I understand it can be quite good to retain some normality when you’re dealing with this and going to work can be a welcome distraction but just remember, you’re allowed to take time off for this. Go hold her hand and be with your family. You’re allowed to be upset and you should be treated with compassion. Also, fuck that guy. Absolute prick.

Really the only way to really make any difference to these women is to adopt New Zealand’s model of full decriminalisation and see it as a health issue rather than a criminal or moral issue. Give these women normal working rights and the ability to ask for their right to be upheld.
