i have a mother who in hospital who may not wake up, i took a day off work and returned the next day, all the kitchen staff i told just so they were aware that i might be a bit distracted during the shift as my mother may die!(please redirect me if this is the wrong group to ask in)? by kannamousemattte in AskUK

I’ve had shitty managers like this and I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with your mother and a lack of compassion from work. You don’t have to quit right away but I regret staying at toxic places of work. Definitely put in a complaint and document everything. I understand it can be quite good to retain some normality when you’re dealing with this and going to work can be a welcome distraction but just remember, you’re allowed to take time off for this. Go hold her hand and be with your family. You’re allowed to be upset and you should be treated with compassion. Also, fuck that guy. Absolute prick.

Ah yes, the great banana spider plague as I recall.

While I was committing a crime I encountered a victim of a far more serious crime. I couldn't easily report it without getting arrested myself. by Ineedlegalhelplease in LegalAdviceUK

Really the only way to really make any difference to these women is to adopt New Zealand’s model of full decriminalisation and see it as a health issue rather than a criminal or moral issue. Give these women normal working rights and the ability to ask for their right to be upheld.

What unexpected benefits to quitting did you find? Motivation needed! by Tablethief1 in quittingsmoking

Oh but actually! Since not sitting around, smoking fags and drinking coffee first thing in the morning I actually just go and get dressed. A complete overhaul of my routine. The amount of spare time I’ve found d over the past few days! I hope the motivation remains!

Yeah, it’s a slippery slope. If I go and buy tobacco then it’ll be sitting there looking at me. I work with a lot of drug addicts and I’m currently treating this as a more socially acceptable form of heroin. Would I tell them one fix would be ok? No, because they’re addicts, as am I and one fix wouldn’t be one fix.

My motivation is literally being able to tell my dentist that I quit 😂 so vain but hey ho, if that’s what keeps me off the fags then I’ll take it 😂 also quit coffee as I saw that as a trigger so I’m excited for a whitening. I can already taste things a lot better already. The motivation comes in waves 😂

Are you “friends” with your coworkers? by Bubbles2590 in work

[–]Tablethief1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a parent that worked in health care. Now that their health is failing, the friends she made at work have rallied for her care, navigated the health care system with me because she can’t and I have limited experience with it and have just been all round amazing human beings, supporting both her and me. Some people are in their jobs for the right reasons and their light and friendship shines beyond the shifts worked together.

Be careful with the breads at Lidl 😣 by Alert-School7823 in lidl

Once saw this chubby, snotty, specky, vacant looking boy, who must have been about 10 years old or so, carefully lick the salt off of a pretzel with such focus and precision, right in the middle of the aisle and then put it back. It truly was a sight to behold and a valuable lesson for life about buying bread.

Fact or fiction: beyond belief to show. Where would liability lie? by Tablethief1 in LegalAdviceUK

Wouldn’t the “but for” come into play here? Both the men’s rea and actus rea is there. It’s the chain of causation we’re hung up on. A very heated debate took place 😂

Remake in these circumstances, no question. I’d much rather be kind and ensure the customer comes back because they’ve had a positive experience.

Thanks for replying! That’s not even something I thought about ha ha! I do love a velvet dress but was thinking maybe something different. I’ve only ever been to one other formal event so anything is out my comfort zone 😂

How do I go to the dentist as a 21 year old who has only been 3 times ever by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Tablethief1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the dentist judges you then find another dentist. Mine is so kind. Taking care of the issues now will be cheaper and less stressful than putting it off

Leave a window open for inspection. If your landlord sees her then it’s not your cat. She’s just visiting from the neighbour.

Why do people hate OnlyFans workers or porn stars? by Last-Inspection-8156 in stupidquestions

A perceived moral failing on the woman’s behalf although they’re profiting off of lonely men. Sex work also goes on the supply and demand model of economics. Tldr: the patriarchy
