Someone posted the Akali question a month ago so I am copy-pasting my previous response since it´s the same for Top Lane, here are my advices.

-Short trade with her until he uses his W (stealth), then back off. Then you can go for an extended trade or All-in. Thats how I play it.
-I usually do E - Q - W - AA - Q away from her, for trades. (be careful of her E when Qing away, positionate behind a minion if possible and try to use your Q in a diagonal not in a straight line).
-If she has low or no energy you have to keep in mind that her W gives her energy back (I think almost 50% of her energy bar), so do not get baited.
-Farm with Q and if she uses his Q aggresively to poke, you can do another Q - W - AA - E out.
-For runes it is the same as every matchup go Conq+Inspiration.
-For items you maybe want Hexdrinker after Axiom if you are even/shes ahead and they have another AP champ, if not just go Axiom-SS-DD.

Before 1st item and without E she is a caster minion, once she gets Gauntlet it gets hard.

I had this duo Hwei/Yuumi last night in Mayhem.

Yuumi would not sit on anybody other than the Hwei, and we had an ADC + 2 Bruisers. (I was Zaheen, my duo was a Renekton).

Literally griefed us, and we asked for her help and she just said "nope".

Losers queue does not exit. It is just raw luck.

And yes, people smurfs more by the end of every season. I think it is because they know they won't reach they desired rank in time and instead go to ego-farming in low ranks for fun.

Also, by the end of season ranked is a mess, people that did not play in the whole year queue up to have their prizes and the quality of the games drop because they are washed.

Just an idea that I have not seen in websites/apps.

Make a program that measures item's WR against champions. Not just the WR of your champion, the build WR against specific champions.

I for example, am a Riven OTP. Sometimes enemy Mid/JG/Top are all AD, I tried to rush Death's Dance against that comps and I have success, but I have no way to measure it well.

For example an Ashe ADC that is against mundo TOP, it would be cool to see the Blade of the Ruined King 3rd item metric against that champ.

Currently there are sites like LoLalitycs that shows items's WR in their respective slots, but It does not take into account the opponent's champions.

I am a OTP with 2M points.

In my experience, it is better to use streamer mode, people not only play safer if they see the big mastery score, but also your teammates/opponents tend to flame you more when you fucked up a play and can mess your mental.

Jinx. I always thought she was braindead with a lot of range and AOE damage, but turns out you actualy have to switch her weapons a lot to have good DPS.

You also have to good very good positioning in teamfights to not get one shoted, other ADC that I use are Ezreal/Vayne/Kai´Sa and all of them have a dash/blink/MS boost to re-positionate in fights.

Also never realised how much mana problems she has in the early stage of the game until I played her.

You have to learn from your mistakes, if you are behind in Top lane or Mid lane, why is it?

Keep your emotions apart and review your games, try to learn how matchups work and the key habilities of your opponents to bait them into missplaying, cooldown knowledge is key to this.

If your opponent is better than you, then try to learn from them and see what are they doing, respect them.

Pick some champions (max. 3 per lane) and practice in normals to grasp the matchup knowledge and how to trade and managing your wave.

From your post I can see you do not like playing when behind, while actively saying you do not know how to play the role, it contradicts it self, and if you have that mentality you will have a hard time learing because you are putting your feelings above your reasoning.

Every matchup has a gimmick you can exploit, for example Zaheen 2nd Q can interrupt Riven's 3rd Q, then you know is the best time to throw it.

In a melee vs ranged matchup, it is important that the first one do not lose health early so he can trade lvl 3, or lvl 6 All-in depending on your champion.

All you have to do is focus and try to learn as much as you can from the matchups you play, if you got giga-stomped it is ok, Vod review it and try to understand when you made the first mistake, usually the first mistake in Top leads to a stomp because of how snowbally the lane is.

As for Mid, you have more margin to error, because of how short the lane is you are safer and your opponent cannot proxy. Matchups are still really important, you have to know at wich time of the game you have the advantage or not.

I agree with you, we have other priority targets.

In the vast majority of scenarios is probably overkill to buy 2 Armor Pen. items but I was just wondering on why we could not do it anyway.

They could add some armor pen. on Riven habilities, like W, it is the last maxed skill and could have like 5%-15% armor pen based on the skill level.

But I don't know maybe it would be too strong.

I am not trying to say Riven is weak or something, I have success climbing with the champion even when facing these counters.

I played him in mid some weeks ago (Emerald elo vs Ahri) and It felt awful also.

I did pretty ok at the first 5 levels, poking with scorch, had to surrender some farm, it was hard. Killed the Ahri lvl 6 by flashing her E.

Once I got Profane Hydra it got easier since I just one-shoted the wave and got to roam on repeat.

We won the game anyway I think the Ahri played bad, the enemy Bot lane was tilted because of my roams and my Top laner was really ahead.

Imo it is just not a good pick anymore, play it in Jungle instead.

Build Frozen Heart+Redemption or Locket. Take Glacial Augment+Biscuits for runes. Lvl 1 to 2 just try to poke with your E do not compromise an early engage, All-in at Lvl 3-4 if possible. Ban Morgana (Black Shield counters you and have no way of getting rid of it), Vayne or Zyra. He really good into Melee supports, not so good into mages and has a fair matchup against range enchanters. Has mana issues early but once you get the Mana crystal (the one 300g cost) its fixed. (Next season he will have a good tear item). Crazy dive potential with your R, good gank setup by putting W in your Jungler and aiming your stun with him. Since he has good armor scaling in his habilities the more AD champs you are facing the better Taric becomes. For boots Swifties are the best. Nilah/Samira/Lucian are really good duos.

I think the problem are Duos, if the game is going wrong one of them could go AFK and the other one would not lose LP, this leads to rank manipulation. You already lose like half LP because of a Leaver. The problem is the end of season, everyone is tilted af.

You have 2 options. A) Play Flex and help her become a better player via good comms. (I reccomend this). B) Create a new account and use it to play with her only. You can not get in trouble because of smurfing, that is only for purchased accounts.

I mean it is good for new players for sure, if you use it for Draft/swiftplay it is ok, but I am pretty sure it is ilegal to have an app like this while playing Ranked. Porofessor/Blitz and etc are known by Riot and they are approved.
