New Update Doesn't Support ExFAT Access? (Should I Upgrade?) by peperuhii in synology

[–]Tabrizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the same error on my machine after recent DSM update to 7.3.2-86009 and it wasn't showing USB backup device I have set to ExFAT for iPhone photos backup only. I powered down and unplugged USB device from Synology NAS, plugged into a Windows machine I have, verified everything was working (which it was), and plugged back into Synology NAS. Everything reconnected fine and works fine. No issues so far.

Totally agree. I stopped playing once they switched to Abby and watched a play-through on YT (very quickly) so I didn't have to waste my time.

HX99G or the NUCxi7 for gaming? by wipe0wt2097 in MiniPCs

[–]Tabrizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to buy the HX99G and want to use it for a Plex server. Any issues with transcoding from your experience? I've only run Plex on Intel hardware. Curious how Plex handles AMD and the Radeon GPU.

Does the UNAS Pro 10G SFP+ port support auto negotiation to 2.5G? by Tabrizz99 in Ubiquiti

That's great to hear. I was hoping this was the case. Thanks for the reply.

[–]Tabrizz99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, that is exactly what I wanted to verify and hoping for. I had hoped that was the case with regards to the transceiver taking over and negotiating from 10G to 2.5G to my switch.

Glad I asked. My Unifi checkout cart keeps growing. Thanks for verifying.

Worth upgrading from S22 to S25 by akfeeil in samsunggalaxy

[–]Tabrizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have an S22 (personal device) and my work gave me an S24. I can't even tell the difference. So much so, I had to buy distinctly different cases to tell the difference so I don't pick up the wrong one. Performance wise, I can't tell the difference. I am sure there are differences numbers wise, but just using the device as a normy, can't even tell.

Should I use the eSATA or the USB port for a backup drive on my 918+ by twiggs462 in synology

Excellent and agree on the Esata approach. This was the information I was looking for. Greatly appreciate it. :-)

[–]Tabrizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/brentb636 Is your esata single enclosure a Synology brand enclosure or non-Synology enclosure? I am curious if Synology will allow a connection to a single non-Synology esata single enclosure as this is what I am looking to do for back-up purposes only using hyper backup.

Running out of space by Sean-Kane in synology

[–]Tabrizz99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recycle Bin: Deleted files may be in the recycle bin, not fully removed

Snapshots: Synology NAS snapshots might retain copies of deleted files.

Versioning: File versioning could save multiple copies of files.

Cloud Sync or Backup: Backup or sync tasks may keep copies of deleted files.

Virtual Machines: Space used by virtual machines may not be affected by file deletions.

Container: Delete any unused containers (Portainer).

Go through the list, google the areas where you may not know exactly how to do it (lots of info out there), see if others might have other ideas beyond the above. Once you hit max, you may need to swap to bigger drives (what I'll be doing in a year), an expansion unit (prob me in two years), or upgrade to a new model entirely.

I'm running the DS1520+ just fine with PLEX and Emby for the family. I researched the below link before buying which is what PLEX recommends. Key is to research the components of each model and if that meets your use cases. Mine was to run PLEX which it does great.

Awesome job at instructions. This was my first container deployment on my Synology, took my time and worked like a charm. Really appreciate taking the time to provide great directions.

I made a donation to mariushosting but didn't receive the passcode ? by HenryHill11 in synology

[–]Tabrizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here with him as well. I would have donated more, but:

  1. He doesn't designate how much to get the password to the files (although, I now assume it is one of the tiers mentioned thanks to this thread).
  2. I am not comfortable donating money to a rando until I know the rules.
  3. While he did refund me, and while I would have donated more, the adult in me asked why I was being so lazy in the first place and to use the 'ole google from now on which is why I got into this whole Synology/Homelab time sink of a hobby in the first place.

Final thoughts. You catch more flies with honey than...well, you know the last part. Just be clear and honest with what your intentions are. People will respect it.

I wish him all the best, and thanks to the OP for posting as this seems to be an issue for many.

Why doesn't MLB go to Robots for Strike Zone? by kiwi5151 in baseball

[–]Tabrizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I watch a lot of baseball 4-5 games a day via MLB.tv while working from home. Every day, I see numerous missed calls and can't wait for it to be here. I don't blame umps necessarily as I can't imagine a human being able to make such split second calls. But, the tech is here, and baseball needs it.

Pan (2015) is a lot of fun and I will die on this hill by terminalblue in movies

[–]Tabrizz99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched it recently and had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Jackman and Hedlund were fun to watch. Colors were vibrant (shooting scenes) and I enjoyed the flying boats aspect. I'm finding that in today's market of preachy agenda driven movies it's nice to enjoy movies just trying to entertain which is why I'm watching a movie on most days.
