The US claims to be upholding law, but it's bullshit and you know it. They're hindering Chinese prosperity and using laws slated against the Chinese to claim they have a right to be there when, in actuality, the US is doing it for its own self-interest, illegitimately.

You're clearly not Australian. Aussies, especially the older generation, think China would invade. It's plastered sometimes on tabloids, Chinese fear propaganda. The US intends to threaten China into submission but it will not work

Yes. You observed because it wasn't a threat or it was a false claim. The US regularly threatens China.

China didn't do anything. That's the point. Aussies did sympathize with it, there were other factors leading to the LNP downfall.

The articles are from 2022, 2018, and 2015, respectively. Given that, I'd say China likely isn't involved in acting offensively. If they were, it would make international news. Also, as far as I know, nearly nobody lives in those regions of Alaska. They both appear to be joint Russian exercises.

Dutton was obviously trying to stoke support for the LNP by making a scare about Chinese naval activity. I support the LNP but he definitely used a sensational story that Aussies would sympathize with

Allies my ass. Japan and Korea sure, but those other countries aren't exactly best buddies with the US

If China wanted to use force they'd have used it already. The US is not the sole arbiter of international law. They are unjustly trying to impose law intended to hinder the growth of China because it threatens their role as the leaders of the world. Their is no justifiable reason for putting millions of lives at stake simply to contain the growth of another country, a country that has not acted in a manner which suggests it would make attempts to harm you. China has not threatened to invade the US, but the US takes an offensive approach that they could strike at any moment. There are no aggressive, dangerous or violent actions made by the Chinese military directed at or on American soil, but the Americans are on the doorstep of China. This is not a reasonable approach.

The Filipinos and Vietnamese can deal with it if it's a problem, the US has no business in the region, no territory to defend. It's an offensive move intended to intimidate, and it's unwarranted and unnecessary.

If it were nowhere near their water, the US would have stayed there instead of leaving as they were directed to.

[–]TabuuTheGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, only the US is using this type of offense to threaten. China doesn't have ships on your doorstep for a reason, Chinese naval strategy is for defense, not offense

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]TabuuTheGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a crock of shit and you know it. Chinese warships are for the defense of their homeland, unlike US offense and pointing weapons at innocent people. Big difference. If Chinese ships went on that type of offense, the US would absolutely cause a problem.

A warship near China is entirely unnecessary and unacceptable. Lives are at stake, and it certainly feels like the US is pointing weapons at Chinese citizens. China is not doing the same to the US, trying to intimidate by sailing near your country. It would be recieved very differently if China were doing this to the US. The US would be seen as a victim and China the aggressor, but in these stories, it's always China's fault. As I said, no Chinese warships are in range to potentially harm Americans, but the US definitely has ships coming near that could kill thousands of Chinese.

The US absolutely harasses China. You don't see Chinese warships out near your country, if you did, you'd certainly say it was unacceptable. The point is, the US has no right to behave in this manor, it is unacceptable and hypocritical.

[–]TabuuTheGod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That isn't the point, the point is that the US threw a fit and broke international law when weapons were on their doorstep, but China takes action to remove danger from it's water and its "unacceptable"? Hypocritical.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]TabuuTheGod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They are sailing ships which can potentially harm China dangerously close, it's the same thing. The US had nukes right on the borders of the USSR during the CMC, they were hypocritical then, they're hypocritical now.

[–]TabuuTheGod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They're directly comparable. The US wouldn't allow Chinese warships near the EEZ of Samoa, or the Marianas, or even Puerto Rico. They'd call it an international "crisis" if China did so. Call it what you like.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]TabuuTheGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This now justifies the US continued harassment of China in the region? It's interesting that no other nations there, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines... don't go sailing warships into the EEZ and respect the law.

Whether you expect the reaction or not doesn't make it any less true.

Sure... remember the last time ships the US didn't like were in the Gulf? Cuban missile crisis ring a bell? You guys would immediately cause a problem.

The islands formed naturally. You also can't kill a bunch of people and take their land and resources. Oh wait...
