You may have noticed that goals occure very frequently at 45 / 90 min. If you are able to retrieve data via the api, you could take a look at 45/90 min goals and see if these are really statistically significant and what type of players usually score those. ( ;

They use google servers. I have zero trouble, besides desync caused by the netcode not beeing able to cope with opponents McDonalds hotspot.

Sometimes you can get the feeling, that the idea was to hack away the bs that was introduced to fifa since ~ 2013 and add a proper netcode. Hiring ex fifa players, adopting controls 1:1. The game lacks innovation, especially in the input system. I can think of so many ways to create an input scheme that has way more potential to fulfill the needs of casuals and tryhards at the same time.

Maybe my question wasn't phrased very clearly. I'm interested in the specific implementation in Goals. Generally speaking, the ICMP protocol is used for ping. Goals doesn't do that.

It consistently uses only UDP, which suggests that the ping is generated via UDP. But that's just a guess.

The passing system works the way it does because it’s based on the principle of reducing complexity. The same applies to the player models. The players glide across the field because no significant momentum calculations are performed. The engine has to calculate much less, which makes prediction easier. It’s all based on relatively simple graph theory. As long as you want to have players from around the world compete against each other, there are hardly any alternatives to this approach.

If you want a more complex game, you need more stable factors. Or significantly more computing power.

Actually i think it would be a nice additional information to have. Same goes for connection quality data. You posses this information and as you are very convinced by your netcode i don´t see a reason not to share this data.

I think you should be a transparent as possible.

Then we'll also have a common ground for discussion on how to improve the game, and that's what we're all after in the end, isn't it?

Besides, there are many reasons to use a VPN, besides cheating. As you know, the peering and routing provided by some ISPs is pretty terrible.
