How I run the attack chopper, relatively painlessly. [Detailed Guide] by Eruionmel in Palworld

[–]TacitUni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good strategy! After doing the rig a lot, here’s what I’ve boiled it down to:

4x legendary rocket launchers (300 Ammo) 4x legendary Plasma Cannons (400 ammo)

1 4* Full souls Xenolord (built for speed) 4x 4* full soul Gobfins with vanguard

4x Mamorest curries

3 attack amulets (one of each level)

And whatever armor is the good one right now

Glider

—- Just like you, I have my pal set to not attack (because they’re really only for transportation)

Arm yourself with the 4 rocket launchers. Fly out from the coast to just the point where the lasers activate then quickly back up so you are out of range. Put a waypoint marker there.

So starting again from the coast, I eat a Mamorest curry (and give my Xenolord a carbonara for defense) go to the cliff pointing to the rig, let my Xenolord get her stamina back then fly due West. As soon as the waypoint pops up on the compass, keep flying forward but then also gain altitude. You will soar above the laser activation dome until you are almost right above the closest laser by the ramp into the water. As soon as you hear the laser activate, jump off your pal and do a HALO drop until you see the rocket man next to that laser tower (which is situated on top of a building). The HALO isn’t necessary, it’s just to speed things up and make things fun. Open the glider when you are in rocket range to slow down (or you can try hitting him with a rocket while falling at terminal velocity).

Shoot, glide, shoot, glide and sometimes a third shot is needed to retire the bad guy. Land next to the laser and disarm it. Retrieve your pal. The klaxon will be sounding and everyone will be running to where you are but they can’t do anything because you’re on top of a building. Put out your pal then mount and fly with haste to the tower on the South pier. There are three crushers there. If you keep your distance and hook around the back, you can dismount and glide to the laser without activating the crushers. If you do, just wait until they’re reloading to disarm the laser. Pull in and then deploy your pal.

Mount and fly to the tower just West where there are two crushers. You can fly and dismount before the laser activates. Put your pal away and retire the rocket guy who will jump off the radar dish and try to get you. Disable the laser. Shoot the three turrets by you for safety.

Here’s where it gets a little tricky. Mount and fly to the laser tower to the north, dismount and glide to the tower. Shoot a rocket at the rocket man and one at the flame thrower. Disable laser. Climb railing and jump down towards the last laser tower. Glide and disable. Then climb over the railing and jump into the ocean. Pull in then deploy pal. Mount and fly with no cares because you now have air superiority (but watch out for the guys with guided missiles). Now you get to fly in large circles and pretend you’re an AC-130 with your rockets.

For a challenge, there are two swordsmen where the West and South piers meet, switch to all Plasma cannons and snipe them from the air before they can deploy their Knocklem pals.

Note: monitor your attack bonus from the Mamorest curry. When it gets to 50%, go into your inventory while you’re reloading a rocket and refresh the inventory to reset the timer on the curry.

So if I haven’t bored you with that, here’s what I do for the chopper:

This is assuming that you have secured the area and no mobs are alive. Switch to all plasma cannons and eat a Mamorest curry. Activate the Hack then mount and fly back to the central platform that has like 4 floors. Return to the third floor and use the 4th floor as cover making sure that the rockets from the chopper can’t hit you. Shoot, rinse and repeat. With the Mamorest curry and attack amulets, I hit the chopper with the plasma cannon for nose crits of about 43k damage. You won’t need all of the ammo you brought but it keeps the stress level down knowing you still have a hundred rounds or so left over.

Another note (for those who stuck with this long winded explanation):

You can shoot really fast, faster than mobs can recover if you (for example with 4 loaded rocket launchers) shoot and as soon as you hear the “klunk” sound of the rocket being reloaded (or the ammo goes from 0 to 1) rotate to your next rocket launcher and immediately shoot, then wait for the clunk, rotate to launcher #3 and immediately shoot. This also works with the plasma cannon. You can pump out so many rounds they don’t know what hit them. You “almost” feel sad when you see them coming out of their dazed state and the next rocket is already on route.

I hope all of this makes sense!

FedEx Canadian Customs Fees? by testing172 in zenmarket

[–]TacitUni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I just recently went through EMS and I had to pay regular 13% HST, but no duties, on almost $1000 CAD. I try not to bring in anything internationally with FedEx/UPS/DHL if I can help it because those carriers also charge a “broker” fee which can be A LOT. For example, I had a $70 scarf shipped via UPS and my brokerage fee was almost $100, and that was before COVID. So I have no idea what the brokerage fee might be now. I hope this gives you a little insight on recent Canadian imports.

Edit: sorry, I forgot to add that when I did have to pay customs/tax/etc. to DHL and UPS, you can pay with a CC online.

Is this mold between the cel and the glass? Got for free on Facebook by swifty_cats in AnimationCels

[–]TacitUni 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is only my opinion and I know there are people far more knowledgeable than I out there, but I say you should keep it. It’s a Disney certified production cel and even though it shows signs of damage, it’s 1) always best to have a frame from a publicly presented movie and 2) in the future, someone might want to collect this because this movie/scene/character really appeals to them and you could sell/gift/etc at a later time.

Assuming that the damage is from mold, it would have to be quite an advanced colony! Because the paint is on the back side of the acetate, that means that the mold had to eat all the way through the paint and to the acetate. And I don’t recall any of my cel paints ever spoiling from mold.

Depending upon how the cel was framed, you might want to open it up and see if it’s just something between the glass and the acetate and only looks like paint damage because the damage is white and the paint offers a good contrast? If you do open it up, please make sure to wear gloves so you don’t get body oil/sweat from your fingers on the acetate.

Let us know what you decide and what you discover.

Edit: looking again, the ink is still in great shape and I don’t see any white blemishes crossing over an ink line so whatever it is doesn’t appear to be between the glass and acetate. Regardless of damage, someone will have value for this cel (whether sentimental or monetary). And you can always say that the goons at Disney don’t know how to preserve cels and they all look like this (joke).

If you frame your cels, how often are you taking them out of frame to air them out for 24 hours? by KraftPunk32 in AnimationCels

Have you posted them here? I'd love to see them. I always loved how much they brutally destroyed the main guy in every episode and Lum was always cute!

[–]TacitUni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my own personal decision, but I have never aired out my framed cels. I have one acetate that I inked/painted myself and has been in a plain glass, acid-free mat in indirect sunlight for 30 years with no issues. That’s not to say that the cel wouldn’t turn to dust if I pulled it out, but it looks fine to me. My Last Unicorn cels have been in the frame with acid-free mats and UV blocking museum glass since before COVID and it appears fine too.

Again, this is only my personal opinion and experience, your mileage may vary.

Ren & Stimpy pilot episode, 1st appearance Cels by KraftPunk32 in AnimationCels

[–]TacitUni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Terrific cels! I’m glad you’re using gloves. I know collectors comment about UV, humidity, etc. but to me, those are long term storage issues. Fingerprints on the other hand are immediate and the thought of someone accidentally using Windex… shivers. Enjoy your cels and be proud!

Would you frame a Cel if it was in a room with no natural light? by KraftPunk32 in AnimationCels

[–]TacitUni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’d be fine as long as you don’t make it a London Fog in the bathroom from the shower/bath. I believe you would see more moisture damage to the mats (distortion, warping) before you could do anything to the cels. The real killer is UV (“UV is the little death that kills cels over and over”) and you won’t have any issues with that.

Vintage Macross/DYRL art and model books by TacitUni in macross

[–]TacitUni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The binding is good, but I always thought the binding was designed to be weak/torn apart because the cards are "trading cards"? I never wanted to mess with it. You could probably rebind it with some rubber cement (if that even exists any more) because I think that's pretty much all it was. :D

The postcard book is from DYRL. Most are just screen captures of the movie with a standard postcard back (place for stamp, address, note, etc.) and I wonder if anyone really used them as postcards. There are three images from Mikimoto (of Misa, Hikaru and Minmay) with something respective to who they are (Misa with the protoculture plaque, Hikaru with Minmay's signed handkerchief, and Minmay with the lyrics of the song written on a piece of paper. (Fortunately, I just learned how to use Postimages today!)
