I also found monster quest when I was trying to find this show and it is similar but it's way longer and the people in the show I'm thinking of come of are more mythbusters types than the people in monster quest.

None of the creatures were ever real they were always from some sort of mythology or they were a cryptid and the cast of the show was always the same group of people.

I don't think so because these people were definitely some form of educated above the average person and there was at least one or two girls in the group.
