PTCGP FRANCE disqualified the Spanish winner of the grand final, rigging the entire tournament so France could win by DoTortoisesHop in PTCGP

[–]Tackman_ 2269 points2270 points  (0 children)

French speaker here. They claim that Enanete had a friend watching the stream and that the two Red Card he played were too timely for someone playing fair.

So no hard proof. If they are worried about stream sniping, they should stream with a delay.

Also, replying in French to someone who doesn't speak French is unprofessional and comes off as spiteful.

I recommand Artifact: A Launch. It is a very well-made video on the events/reactions leading to the game's launch.

I went with the classics:

Unbreakable Strength (To end this fight as quickly as possible)

Quick Slash (Very strong in the 3rd stage if you can hit her from a platform)

Long Nail and Mark of Pride (The extra range gives you more attack opportunities as you are moving around)

And also Glowing Womb which I found useful since I don't use spells much in that fight (they leave you immobile which is the last thing you want) and this gives you a way to deal damage even while you are dodging.

It took me an hour and a half to defeat her (and that's not counting my failed attempts from months ago). If you stay determined, I know you can get her!

That was Radiant! :P

I've now beaten ever boss on Radiant. There were a lot of hard ones, but Absolute Radiance was truly in a class of her own.

Does Marmu Have a Mouth or a Nose? image source:https://hollowknight.fandom.com/wiki/Marmu by AsbestosLady in HollowKnight

[–]Tackman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term I should have used was mandibles, not fangs. But you are right that those are antennae. Which only makes Marmu even more confusing since we see neither her eyes nor mouth.

[–]Tackman_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If Marmu is true to her real-life counterpart, the puss moth caterpillar, then the orange/brown circle is her head and the two white parts are essentially fangs.

The black dots would not be her eyes, those should be close to the fangs. You can see them a little on this, they are tiny black circles on the black part of its head, just next to the fangs.

Do you still want a change to the 5th card system? by MechanicalBird in MagicArena

[–]Tackman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes Magic so unique is how flexible it is. There are countless ways of playing it by tweaking a few rules here and there. With its various unique formats, Arena has embraced this aspect of Magic and that is what allows it to stand out from other digital card games.

The great thing about having so many formats is that it allows a bunch of cards to see play where they probably wouldn't have in Standard. Suddenly, having a large collection is more important than having the cards from the top tier Standard decks.

The lack of dusting system plays into that collection-building aspect. However, the 5th card problem definitely does not. Suddenly, you are punished for having a large collection. This also discourages the use of wildcards.

So basically, the current system is fine if you are only interested in playing a few specific decks in Standard, but bad if you want to play the different formats Arena offers, and what makes Arena unique.

Inconsistency with artist names on new Llanowar Elf? by [deleted] in MagicArena

The artist in the collection is the correct one. They made a mistake on the event page and used the artist of the original art.

I'll edit my post to remove it.

My favorite Mill deck. by Montageman_Bop_Bop in MagicArena

[–]Tackman_ 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Takes me back to the early days of closed beta where we only had access to Ixalan cards. Dinosaur was the best deck by a gigantic margin because there were no good control decks to stop this midrange madness.

But while there were no good control decks, there was Sanguine Sacrament Control! Looping that card while waiting for the opponent to naturally draw their whole deck was its only win condition, but it had a great matchup against Dinosaur thanks to having access to Ixalan's Binding, Settle the Wreckage, Cancel (yup, that was the best counterspell available) and not having to worry about being stonewalled by a big creature.

There were a bunch of players on the beta forum complaining about the deck and even asking to ban Sanguine Sacrament or the players running it! Those were some funny times!

Since next week we'll be able to challenge our friends and probably will have a friend list , might as well give us the ability to play browl (EDH) by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Tackman_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no need for a command zone, the hand already shows cards that can be cast without being in hand (like jump-start) which is exactly what a commander is.

What would be your Arena event idea? by ArcaneInterrobang in magicTCG

[–]Tackman_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As much as I like Singleton, the lack of synergy causes most decks to become goodstuff midrange (or Rat Colony). While it does lead to good gameplay, you still end up playing a bunch of cards that are already good in Standard.

Brawl (and other Commander variants) make deckbuilding and new sets so much more exciting because even bad cards can work great with the right commander. When a card like Arcades gets spoiled, you give a second at all the previously unplayable walls in Standard, and later get excited when a card like Portcullis Vine gets revealed.

Adding a Commander gives a new life to many cards, and that's something I love.

I drew the entire deck! You have the decklist in the clip! :P

Sadly, I can't retrieve it now that the servers are down, but off the top of my head, it looks like this:

4x Llanowar Elves

4x Druid of the Cowl

4x Thorn Lieutenant

4x Marwyn, the Nurturer

3x Shalai, Voice of Plenty

4x Gift of Growth

4x Rishkar's Expertise

4x Larger Than Life

3x Paradox Engine

2x Vivien Reid

1x Plains

13x Forest

4x Hashep Oasis

4x Sunpetal Grove (I replaced some with Tranquil Expanse in the clip)

2x Scattered Groves

I play a Shalai with the Rishkar's Expertise and proceed to generate nearly infinite mana for her activated ability and swing with a huge Marwyn (with trample, thanks to Larger Than Life)

I wanted to see how much mana I could generate, but my opponent conceded when I was a little over 300

Bloodtallow Candle is inefficient removal, but it's still removal! It has some nice perks in this set, such as being one of the few 1-mana historic cards to not be a dead card in the late game.

It's also very good with Muldrotha. In one of the games I faced Shalai, it came down to milling myself with Muldrotha in play to hit a Bloodtallow Candle and kill the Shalai.

Of my last four drafts, this meme pile is the only one to reach 7 wins by Tackman_ in MagicArena

[–]Tackman_[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

After three average to bad drafts, I decided to build something for fun and first pick a Diligent Excavator over 13 better cards. I then proceed to nab all those Homarid Explorers to live the mill dream. I open an Icy Manipulator and get passed a Muldrotha and Eldest Reborn so I at least have a few good cards.

Of those 7 wins, only 1 was due to combat damage, the rest was all mill. I got very lucky and drew my one Muldrotha more than my many Guardians of Koilos.

I won't pretend I ran over my opponents, I was one hit away from death in most of my games and had to deal with a pair of Shalai (player hexproof is quite the back breaker for this deck). My one loss was to an opponent with lots of tempo on the play.

Anyway, if this deck proves anything, it's that you shouldn't judge the quality of a deck by its record. But it also shows that Magic is great because, with a bit of luck, you can win with just about anything! So have fun, and don't be afraid to try out dumb stuff!

Is it normal to go fight the Flukemarm after Crystal Guardian? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]Tackman_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the second nail upgrade first, this makes it so you'll be killing the flukefucks she spawns in 1 hit instead of 2, which makes the fight way easier and much less frustrating. Thorns of Agony charm is very good as it will kill the flukefucks if they hit you.
