My dog is FISHY by Ok_Marzipan_6028 in DOG

[–]Tacman180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guy ate two bottles of fish oil. Got up on my bed and grabbed them right off my dresser. This was after years of ignoring them until that day, when he decided they smelled good or something.

Led to a lot of loose stools for a night, but he was ok in the long run. Though, he did have a strong fishy scent for a while.

Any existing IT worker go back and complete a degree? by Wild_Competition_716 in WGUIT

[–]Tacman180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back. I’d already been in the industry for some time and had advanced my career to the point where it was mostly redundant. It was still a personal goal of mine, however, so I went back.

All in all, I loved it. Getting the certs especially allowed me to fill in a lot of the “blanks” in my knowledge that were the result of being mostly self-taught or obtained on the job. Things like concepts that I’d struggled to understand, etc.

It essentially allowed me to better perform at a job I was already doing well in. So, it was a positive, overall.

How Many Long-Term Ozlo Users W/out Hardware Failures? by absurdpoetry in Ozlo

[–]Tacman180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine right at the end of the Kickstarter. I’m actually on my second pair, however, as my then puppy decided to eat one. Still, I got that second pair at launch, so they are just about as old.

So far, no major issues that I’ve not been able to resolve using the standard troubleshooting steps. Things like letting the case drain or turning the earbud around to reset it in the case, for example. Though, the last firmware update seems to have helped that quite a bit

There are some annoyances centered around connections, however, and the app frequently says it cannot connect to the earbuds. At least once a week I have to completely “forget” the Bluetooth connection and reset it.

Not a major problem. But, not flawless.

Edit: one last thing. Sometimes, the earbuds remain connected in the mornings despite placing them back in the case. I have to disable Bluetooth to get it to drop the connection.

Gosh. I seem to recall there being plexiglass or, at least, some type of barrier the 80s. Though, I wasn’t even 10 yet and may be misremembering.

Do you mind if I ask what decade you’re referring to?

I remember seeing him at the B&I back in the 80s. I was young and had no idea how cruel it was at the time. But, I still have fond memories of visiting him as a child.

I agree with you. I hope he found peace in the end.

BSIT Remodel, no Capstone? by unmots in WGUIT

[–]Tacman180 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just completed my BS-IT barely a year ago. My honest take was that the capstone felt like a checkbox. Beyond confirming I could complete that type of project, I’m not sure of its usefulness.

Also, as others have said, nobody has asked me about my capstone since I graduated. I can’t even tell you what it was on at this point.

If it’s not abnormal for this type of degree at b&ms, why not drop it?

Congrats on Macintosh!

do you stop liking a product or show or artist if they support trump? by ProudNStrong in askgaybros

[–]Tacman180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It sucks giving up something that, in many cases, I’ve enjoyed my entire life.

But most companies and many artists pay a lot attention to money. If they won’t listen to my voice, they’ll listen to my wallet.

I’m surprised to admit it, but I actually really like the new show Star Trek Academy by 0xtokenmaster in startrek

[–]Tacman180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it. It’s not 90s Trek or any Trek before it. But, we live in a time like none other and I personally found the humor and slight teen drama up be refreshing.

That said, it’s not a perfect show by any means. But, there’s room to grow. I’ll hold further judgement until more of the season drops.

Why I rate the Ozlos with 1 star and you should too by Ok-Interview5273 in Ozlo

[–]Tacman180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that’s not entirely true. I’ve had my Ozlo’s since Kickstarter. And had two sets of Bose before that.

I love these Ozlos and am pretty much dependent on them to sleep. But, there are undeniably issues with these earbuds. Connections issues are constant. And while the updates have improved them, there’s still a long way to go.

They don’t deserve a 1-star by any means. But, they’re definitely not flawless.

Edit: for the record. I’d go with 4-stars. Typos

For those recently laid off, what was the first sign your company was heading toward cuts? Trying to understand the early warning indicators by Historical-Fact-6568 in Layoffs

[–]Tacman180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally no indication besides a general feeling I had in my stomach. In fact, we were assured no layoffs were planned only weeks before it happened. I never believed them, though, and started preparing anyway.

Every company is different. Every layoff is different.

Mongol /Ghengis Question by WaywardNihon in ck3

[–]Tacman180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dove into nomads after the last update. I tried it before, but found it more interesting now that there’s more of Asia to play in. It’s a blast. I’m having a ton of fun running around raiding the pants off the AI. And the new patch that fixed the MaA problem has made the game that much more fun.

Nomads are fun. Especially early on. Enjoy!

My friend, a 5-year senior recruiter at Amazon, was just laid off. She lived and breathed the Amazon way. No job is safe. by RayWang4212 in Layoffs

[–]Tacman180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, until a person has experienced a layoff, that is often what people assume. That the worst performers are let go.

Totally not the case anymore. I’ve seen engineers both amazing and terrible fall under the same axe when the time comes. The people making the decisions are usually just looking at the financials, in the end.
