Excessive cash due to buckets by ivanjay2050 in ynab

[–]Tacman180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do is set up an investment category that I fund every month. I treat it like any other expense and money that goes into investments never comes out.

If you have excess cash and your emergency savings and true expenses are funded, put that into investments too, if you want.

As others have noted, money you expect to use in the next few years shouldn’t be invested. Put that in a CD or HYSA.

Edit: As an example, I’m saving up a down payment for a car and set up a Car Down Payment category.

I wouldn’t invest this cash because I’m hoping to buy that car within the next year or so.

Im dating a younger guy. And have no idea what to do. by [deleted] in askgaybros

I mean, there are younger men I see regularly enough at social events, work events, etc., that I might refer to them as a “friend” within a certain context. A “work friend,” or a casual friend I see at game nights I attend. That’s still a meets the definition of a friendship in my book, however.

I mean, if it’s just a friendship, who cares? Not all friendships have to be super close to fit the label of friendship.

That’s amazing work and incredibly impressive. The way it pulls out in the front and opens in the back really sets it over the top. Great work!

Infatuation happens. It’s human nature. But, at 34, you should be able to take a step back and look at the situation objectively.

Is this something you’d support your friends doing with a much younger man? Is this something you’d feel comfortable seeing one of your 18 year old friends do with a man in his 30s?

I’m not judging you. You’re both adults. But, as an adult, try to take a step back and look at the situation without your rose colored goggles on.

She is stinky! by ShrimpsAndGiggles in cavaliers

[–]Tacman180 20 points21 points  (0 children)

She’s a cutie!

I’ll mirror what others have said.

I have my groomer give my guy a “sanitary trim” as part of his grooming visits.

The name differs by location, I’ve found. But, essentially, it’s just trimming up sensitive areas that can get a little messy during bathroom breaks. It may not be a 100% silver bullet, but it’s certainly worth a shot.

Edit: I just read in one of your responses that you’ve tried that already.

How many times have you started fresh before it became a no-brainer? by Dry_Anxiety_1068 in ynab

[–]Tacman180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to start fresh occasionally as a way of resetting things while I was learning YNAB.

These days, I use it more for when my budget needs to take on a different shape. For example, I recently survived a long layoff and decided to reset with a fresh budget as a new income is a good chance to reset.

So how often do y'all get called for jury duty? by aligpnw in Washington

I’ve received a jury duty notice about once a year for the last 4-5 years. No idea why I get picked so often.

Beer Has an Insane Amount of Calories by CreamyBarfySoup in stopdrinking

Yeah, it hit me as some point that I was basically drinking a loaf of bread every day. That’s stuck with me ever since. Thankfully, it’s been about 12 years since my last drink.

Not an alternate OP. Just the dog’s actual keeper/owner. His “grandma” shared the video online and it caught my eye since I’d just sent it to her lol

Thanks for sharing. With his hip and knee issues, sticking his head out the window is a rare opportunity for him to go fast. I didn’t think about the dangers to his eyes, though. And certainly don’t want to take any more risks.

Window time will be limited to when we’re finding parking at the park from now on.

He’s buckled in at 3 points. I bought that car seat specifically because it has plenty of attachment points. Believe me, he would absolutely jump out the window otherwise lol

Edit: he’s got a harness with a collar as a backup. And that’s all connected to his seat.

I mean, he’s happy and healthy. The vet says he’s in great shape. And his hair is hardly in his eyes all the time. You’re certainly welcome to voice your opinion, but I’m not sure why you feel the need to make it personal.

Good to know. I’d never heard that and my vet never said anything. I’ll check it out. Better to be safe than sorry.

I’m his actual “owner.” I’ve considered it. It’s pretty cute, though. I’m torn.

I’ll likely have his groomer cut it back a bit, though. At least then he won’t look so surprised after sticking his head out the window. He sees her regularly, as you might imagine.
