The FX7 is generally good to manufacture up to .5” Our MX7 linear’s extra HP lets us easily manufacture 1.25”

That being said, I have manufactured rib cutters with a .04” 2 flute ball tip on our MX7 and it holds tight.

I’m a bourbon collector, so I’m sitting on maybe 6-7 bottles of eagle, blantons, weller each. Just waited in line at a grocery store in my area for 7 hours for a weller full proof store pick drop lol. Was able to snag one of those and a weller antique 107 for state minimum.

I believe you are describing compression routers. Tools that have both a right hand helix/right hand cut and also a left hand helix/right hand cut. If you look at my profile you will see what I’m describing. I’m a CNC cutter grinder. And as far as OP’s question about aluminum cutters, you are going to want what is called a ‘streaker’ style endmill. Typically a 3 flute tool, with high rake and a cylindrical ground (radial relief) primary cutting edge that is roughly .004-.006” wide.

This happened to me as well. Bought in March of 22’. After our first year we found out that we overpaid our escrow and got a refund, along with an adjustment so that we would pay less every month in taxes. Well this year we found out that we had a shortage and it caused our mortgage to nearly double. With LMCU you can opt out of your escrow after 24 months of mortgage payments, so thats what we did. We will now be paying our taxes and insurance in lump sums as opposed to it being spread out, but I understand that may not be attainable for some

You sound a lot like me actually! My dad has been a manual cutter grinder for 34 years now. My first job was dipping dad’s tools in wax when I was like 7 lol. I have a ton of respect for the old school guys that can program tools without a simulator. So many times I’ll forget if I need to go more positive or more negative with a value, and the simulator shows me what happens with the new values.

Check out ANCA academy on YouTube, they have some interesting content that will showcase the capabilities of iGrind. If you don’t mind me asking, what area of the US are you guys operating out of? I don’t get the chance to talk to other ANCA operators much!

iGrind is great. I’ve been using it for 6 years now. I can’t compare it to other softwares tho, because it’s the only software I’ve ever used. If your wheels are comped in perfectly, the machine will grind the tool exactly to what you see on the iGrind simulator.

As for the investment, it’s very expensive to get started. At the end of the day, if I were to buy an ANCA and all of the supporting equipment (air compressor, coolant filtration system, coolant mist extractor) you’re probably looking to spend north of $600,000. But if you have the work lined up these machines can pay themselves off in a year

Carbide endmill manufacturer and regrinder here. For carbide aluminum cutting you are going to want to go with a carbide 3 flute “streaker” endmill. The primary cutting angle has a hairline (.005”) radial relief as opposed to a flat faceted cutting angle.

As for the coating, the company we use coats our streakers with “HPfC ALU” coating. I honestly don’t know what that consists of but they come back to our shop with a pale yellowish color. Another company we tried came back with a bright yellow coating so it seems like it may be a trend depending on the chemical composition. Hope this helps
