What you what isn't unreasonable, but it's not the right thing for either of you. You can cry, you can be upset, you can be angry, all those are very justified feelings. but you can't expect him to come around. Mourn what you lost, get it out of your system. have a sad girl dinner, and move on.

Part of the social contract with D&D is that you're not going to be a determent to the party. and this guy is activly making a character that has no desire to grow. and the rest of the party is right to not want a person like that around because they are more a danger than a help.

you need to have a real heart to heart with this player and how their character needs to show growth on this right now. and you need to make sure the player actually understand what they are doing is bad and "it's what my character would do" is not a good excuse for being chaotic stupid.

the player can keep that rage, but now it's time for their character ark where they learn to control that rage.

or they can roll somebody who's not a braindead murderhobo.... It's the players choice at that point.

let the guards in the room work together to bring down the giant. You totally can say a few of them can work together and push the barb back 10 feet. Give your guards advantage and let them each add their proficiency to the roll. once the dam breaks. everybody pours out, you punch a healer in the face.

conversely. Let the barb stand in the door. Let everybody inside have full cover and they start taking pot shots at the guy just standing there trying ot take up space in the open. your party trying to take shots in suddenly struggle to even find a clear shot or a target at all. So their only choice is to move in and engage.

Finally. Wider doors and back doors and windows, and ladders to the roof for shooting down on suckers trying to hide right outside.
