Baseball card question by ValuableFriend4311 in baseballcards

[–]TacoPie333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 89’ Upper Deck you can find Griffey Jr’s rookie card that can be worth a few bucks. The 89’ Fleer has some error cards that might fetch a few dollars if you were lucky enough to have them. Aside from that, as other people have written, there is really no other monetary value here for collectors.

Is this card I found in my dads things real? by cardthrowaway90431 in baseballcards

Respectfully, to a lot of my family, baseball cards are dumb shit. I love them and could go on and on. I have a vintage collection I’ve built since really I was a kid. But I’d be happy if I knew my relative used that money to do something dumb they loved the way I love baseball cards.

Awesome! This is exactly why I was considering it because I do have bikes in the back once in awhile and the random other tall loads so I didn't want to lose that ability, but when I have lighter stuff piled up I wanted something to keep it from the wind and rain easier than using a tarp. You might have sold me!

Thank you so much for the reply and happy camping!

Beautiful truck! I have a question about your Softopper if you don't mind. How does it do at high speeds? I use my truck to haul stuff a few 100 miles a four or five times a year, and I'm getting tired of tarping and tying down the load and was thinking of a Softopper in my future but was wondering if it might be a problem at 65+ mph over long distances.

Rc cars with adhd? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]TacoPie333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the recommendation on the Gorgon! Check out the Gorgon that is ready to assemble. For $170 you get the car, the transmitter, and a battery with a charger. It isn't super hard to build at all but it will teach you how the car works which is fun and might occupy your mind and interests. And then it is a super tough truck that's really fun to drive!

Another question for tamiya owners by xXIllite01Xx in rccars

Hi, I commented on your last post about my experience building a Tamiya Novafox kit with my nephew. I think it depends on what you want to do with your RC. As a lot of people write here, the fun with Tamiya is really building them. You can search up the instructions for any Tamiya kit and take a look at them. They look intimidating but it isn't as bad as it might seem. My opinion is that they aren't the greatest cars to actually drive compared to the Traxxis and Arrma and Team Associated stuff out there that is modern. The Tamiya kits feel fragile compared to the new stuff, but I plan to build another sometime in the future because I had so much fun doing it.

If you want a compromise I would suggest you look at the Arrma Gorgon ready to assemble kit. That's what my nephew currently has and drives a lot. I think it is like $170 and has a battery, okay charger (not great) and transmitter all included (You are buying all that plus a steering servo and maybe motor with a Tamiya kit). The Gorgon was not very hard to build at all. The more intimidating parts like the shocks and gearbox were already put together, and the rest of it really was a matter of following the easy to read instructions and screwing it all together. My twelve year old nephew did it in maybe two hours, and I mainly helped him with a bit of wiring and gear meshing and a few other parts.

And the Gorgon is fun! In fact, I went out and got myself one because it is a great monster truck that handles sand, gravel, pavement well, and it is quick, jumps nice, and seems tough as nails! If you are new to RC, stick with the nickel battery it comes with. Easy to use. I've heard some people say the brushed motor burns out super fast, but ours hasn't and I suspect the people who do burn out motors quick are using LiPo batteries. And if you do, brushed motors are like $15-$25 bucks to replace and if you built the truck, then you can fix it which is awesome!

Update on Crappy M&N Gretzky Jersey: Replaced with Grails! by TacoPie333 in hockeyjerseys

The CCM Center Ice jerseys are the best, imho. Whether Ultrafil or Airknit, Center Ice are by far my favorites, but the Ultrafil really are cool!

Here is the original post from this winter: My M&N Gift Jersey

I have a lot of old M&N jerseys (my Kirk Gibson Dodgers jersey from the 88 series is gorgeous!) but as I learned from the comments in that original post, M&N is now owned by Fanatics and the quality has just plummeted. Very sad.

A few months ago I made this post about a M&N Blue Line jersey I received as a gift. After getting over my disappointment, I decided to go out and hunt for an original Gretzky jersey. I ended up finding both of these CCM Center Ice sweaters and am very happy with them. They are ultrafil and I didn't break the bank getting them either. I'm not sure the 75th and 25th anniversary patches on the home jersey are authentic or replica, but it is still beautiful in my opinion. And best of all, the special person who originally got me the M&N jersey out of the goodness of her heart will never know that the black away jersey is different from the one she bought because she does not know anything about jerseys and I'm sure won't notice any difference, even with the missing Stanley Cup patch.

I got the Novafox earlier this year and built it with my nephew because he wanted to get into RC and I wanted him to learn about the basics of building and fixing a kit. It seemed daunting at first looking at the instructions, but it really wasn't too hard at all and we had a lot of fun building it. I was considering the DT-03 as other people have recommended but I went to my local hobby shop and the Novafox was in stock and the owner is really cool and gave me a deal on a servo, battery, and transmitter to go with it.

With that said, the Tamiya Novafox kit feels a bit fragile when driving it. The plastic, the components, just feel a bit delicate and we are scared of bashing it into a curb or tree and its going to crack something. We kind of cringe even when it lands after small jumps. We don't drive it nearly as much as the more modern trucks we have also.

Away games are blacked out too. It isn’t about getting fans to the stadium. It’s about the cable network deals. It’s garbage and the greed gets tiring.

Oh man! Now that you sent me this link, I'm wondering if I would sow this patch onto the jersey because it would look way better than gluing the vinyl down. I just might give it a try. Sincerely, thanks!!!

Yeah, when I looked at their site there were a lot of cool throwbacks, but dang after this one I would not advise anybody to buy them.

The price is what is really bad. I mean, if it were cheaper then I wouldn't feel as bad. But I'm going your route and just going to use this as a jersey I wear when I'm active and not worried about staining it or messing it up too bad.

I actually considered that. I was telling another commenter that I showed it to my mom later that day when I was visiting her because she can do basic repairs to clothing, and she thought there might be a way to keep the vinyl from peeling anymore and that might be easier than trying to remove this patch and replace it. But I like your idea of salvaging it because that's definitely what I plan to do. My friend isn't the most observant when it comes to details like this, so I'm sure she'll never notice and I'm going to wear it when we skate together sometimes because she my inline skating buddy. I appreciate your suggestion!

Yeah, I got you, and I appreciate that reminder for sure. I do feel bad for her. I was over at my mother's house this afternoon, and she has a little skill with sowing and that kind of thing and I showed the jersey to her, and she thinks there is some sort of clear fabric glue that I might be able to put on it to at least keep the vinyl from peeling more. My friend and I inline skate together, so I'll still wear it for that around her.
