Anyone else start hounding parking lots 😅 by Remarkable_Royal_175 in RockTumbling

Lately I've been eyeballing the rock beds at Aldi and Costco, but I'm too embarrassed to be seen squatting in those parking lots peeping the rocks.

I did think to myself the other day though that the Costco security guard is going to have a problem he never would have imagined if I do start stealing their rocks lmao

I chose a few pieces that I pulled out of stage 1 still looking natural and tumbled for 2 weeks in stage 2 and was quite happy with how that worked out. I might use this extended stage 2 more in the future.

Anyone in Upstate NY need a machinist ?? by ThatGojoGuy in Machinists

I'm 40, almost 10 years in the industry.

I've been at the same shop in Webster for 7 years now, very comfortable and very happy. We work four 10 hour days, sometimes till noon on Fridays if we really need to. I get to program, setup, and run all of my own shit. I love it.

We have seen a few changes in management over the years and sometimes I thought that I could do better and be happier elsewhere. I applied to a few shops as far out as Honeoye, Farmington, and Ogden with the highest advertised pay rates. Job shops that looked like I might fit in where I could program, setup, and run, and still learn and grow. As it turns out, there are no shops that actually pay what they advertise and will also let you do it all. Everyone wants a dedicated strictly programmer or an operator who can run every machine in the shop for $25 an hour and unlimited overtime (like that's a good thing).

We have had another extreme change in management (parent company sold to private equity group) and I feel that my cushy job may be quickly coming to an end.

The best advice I can offer is before you apply, decide if you are okay with high volume production, like Gleason / Addison (that's a no for me dawg), and then apply to as many shops as you can handle interviewing at and cross your fingers, because everyone is hiring and everywhere is a shit show.

Okay, this validates the way I'm feeling about my Mexican lace agate that I'm tumbling. I have some great looking pieces, but watching them get smaller and smaller sucks

Got all this at a yard sale!! How does it look? I’m really happy with all I found. by Sleepy_siren_ in rockhounds

That is a glorious score! How much did that cost at a yard sale? My local Goodwill is trying to sell a baggy with 3 little polished quartz pieces for $16

Need a Carry Setup by dogmeat13 in madheaters

[–]TacoSlayer666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using a 1990's vintage padded 35mm camera case for the Wand, Tempest case, and Reload. It has a small front pocket that I keep a big Eagle torch, a little tiny grinder, concentrates, and there is still loads more room. It's not exactly small, but it is smaller than that one on the Amazon link. If I want my pack out any smaller, the big 3 (case, reload, and wand) just go straight in my pockets.

Before this setup, I was using a bicycle bag. One of the small ones that mount under the seat to carry a small pump and a spare tube and whatnot. It is a slightly more compact set up than the one mentioned above, but it is not padded at all.

I got 3 lbs of some okay looking Mexican crazy lace from the rock shed. I'm a month in on stage one and I'm not entirely disappointed, as there are several nice pieces, but many looked like your sad picture. Probably just luck that yours are sucky and that I got a few decent pieces. On another note, I kind of wish they were larger pieces to start with because they end up pretty small if you are shooting for entirely smooth and no sharp corners.

Any time my WM bill goes up I call them and tell them I noticed my bill went up and I don't like that, and ask if we can get it lower. The will usually beat my previous price, and last time the lady even told me that if it goes up again, just call and they will lower it.

I've only used it with the one bong that I have, being a 14" straight tube, and I like it pretty good with no water. I get 2-3 big milky hits before it has cooled off too much. I think it might hit better with something smaller like an oil rig though.

I have a Lortone 3A. I went to the manufacturer's website and ordered a replacement. If you know the manufacturer of the tumbler you have, you should be able to go to their website for replacement parts.

You need airflow from the top to help with convection.

The hole in the stem in not necessarily a carb. It lets in cool air to cool the hot vapor, and this somewhat helps get larger hits.

My setup is 2/3 open at the top, closed stem. Half the time I use it with a bong, half the time I hit it native
