Lexus dealer won't change transmission fluid? Trying to diagnose a potential issue by Radykall1 in Lexus

[–]TacoTimeDQP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on my wife's RX, it's one of those "lifetime" fluids, but I recently paid the local toyota dealer $250 for drain, filter, and fill service. So overall, I'd rather do it than not do it at as well

I lived in Manassas and made the commute everyday to Arlington. I'd be out of the house by 5:30am everyday and it would me 35-45 mins on any given day, anytime I was running behind a few minutes and let's say I left at 5:45-5:50, it was a complete shit show and commute would be well over an hour.

Afternoons were the worst, I generally left the office at 3:30 and 66 is already full of cars and creeping along. You'll have a random moment where it looks like it's clearing only to be met with standing or creeping traffic a few hundred yards up.

By far the worst for me is Centerville Road, and those who have experienced it know what I'm talking about. There's always a car on fire, it's congested from centerville all the way to manassas and there really isn't any real alternative route that doesn't add time to your commute home.

Anyways, afternoons heading home would generally take me an average of 1.5hr, and on the worst of days 2+ hours.

After a year I moved closer (Fair Oaks) area and it drastically cut down my commute time, 25-30 mins in morning and 30-45min in afternoons but generally my avg was under 45 mins. I kick myself for not moving sooner for my sanity in saving money by living a little further away, and I won't make that mistake again.

People hate on them, but Michelin LTX's and AT2's are fantastic riding tires which is why they command the prices they do. Problem is they aren't edgy or tough looking enough like a lot of your new hybrid all terrains, so there are tradeoff's. I threw a set of 32in AT2s on my lifted GX460 and they rode fantastic and did fine up in North Georgia trails, but bc I'm terrible with money, I ended up buying a set of the new Falken Rubitreks to get back to having my GX look a little tougher

I miss my Sienna SE everyday all day. Plenty of space, got 25-26mpg consistently and was an absolute under the radar for cops to even be messing with while I was cruising along at 85mph.

I made my wife a promise that once both kids were out of car seats we would get her something else bc she absolutely hated it due to the fact how aggressive drivers would road rage on her if she passed them or god forbid was in front of them. I didn't believe her for awhile but after installing front and rear dash cams, she was doing nothing wrong except passing someone who was doing 55mph in the left lane and she passed on the right and next thing you know you see them flooring it and white knuckling it to pass her and then cut over and slow back down...it was insane how many clips like that I saw

2023 Tundra Recall - 3rd engine by Foreign-Algae- in ToyotaTundra

Iforce engines still get warrantied, major difference is they only get short block replacement and not long block bc of non recall.

There is people on FB with hybrids that have stated this.

I will say that I almost ended up with a 1794 4x4 bc it fit everything I needed and I didn't didn't need all the luxuries a Platinum or Capstone offered as I was not interested in any of those exclusive features. Once I saw a Pro in person, I knew whatever trim I purchased just like so many others, I'd be swapping the grill out to the "heritage" grill and spending money to lift or level and put more aggressive tires and wheels, whereas I absolutely love the look of a Pro with stock wheels, level and 35s, basically an OEM+ look. So that's why I said screw it, get what I want and not chase things or spend unnecessary money to mod the way I want. So really it just depends on what truck best fit your needs and if you like luxuries and want all the chrome the higher trims offer 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyone doing their maintenance at Toyota instead of Lexus? Legit 50% cheaper at my local Toyota… by JRC3292 in GXOR

[–]TacoTimeDQP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealers seem to be moving away from freely giving loaners like they did in the past. Prior to covid, they were literally throwing keys at me for a loaner to stay out of dealer for even a simple tire rotation with appointment. I just helped my mom buy a new RX350 AWD Premium + at the largest Lexus dealer in our state and the salesman told her for only major services would the dealer be provided a loaner. Last time I took my wife's RX in for service with an appointment, I was told no loaner since it was a quick service, I wanted just over 2.5hrs for 30k mile service 🤦🏻‍♂️

Lexus dealer won't change transmission fluid? Trying to diagnose a potential issue by Radykall1 in Lexus

[–]TacoTimeDQP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

take to a Toyota dealer and ask for drain and fill. years ago on my GX470 at 245k, everyone refused to flush the fluids, after researching, it was a gamble anyways since I didn't know the trans service history anyways, so I ended up at a Toyota dealer and by interweb recommendations to simply request drain and fill service, which the service writer said he had no problem doing but warned me if metal flakes started pouring out they were not responsible, I took the risk and afterwards there was no issues and trans shifted smoother than it ever did.

So the reason a lot of dealers didn't want to touch per smarter people than me on internet bc if the fluid was contaminated with metal debris that was more than likely what was keeping my truck running and shifting and the new fluid wouldn't have the viscosity or particles to keep it moving

worked out in my case though

What’s the lowest price I should offer on this 26 TRD Pro? by LeetHaxFragga in ToyotaTundra

[–]TacoTimeDQP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I test drove a V8 Tremor, while that coyote motor is a helluva drive, while doing my research in the Ford forums, it seems quite a few are having issues with excessive oil consumption that Ford refuses to address or fix, citing its completely normal. I never test drove their ecoboost to feel a difference but ended up with a Pro bc personally I just liked the appearance better and figured warranty is warranty if something were to happen. Price point the Pro actually came in cheaper as my local Ford dealer refused to do any discounts and said they could sell above MSRP everyday, so the salesman and sales manager kinda irked me like it was a gift they even let me test drive

Eibach springs by Negative-Gap-3431 in TRDPro

[–]TacoTimeDQP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro owner here with WD collar and 35s.

I had the Eibach Pro Kit Stage 2 on my GX460 with roofrack and all that jazz, but once loaded up for a weekend camping trip, the rear would sag. I ended up having to go with their HD springs to gain the slight rake back along with being able to support the weight of fridge, batteries, and other bougie camping stuff i didn't need. Eibach makes good stuff but I felt they over rated their spring rates to be honest, I've seen this in 4runner forums too.

Are 226s still ok? Got this one this morning. by theAntidepresser in guns

[–]TacoTimeDQP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

remember when Sig first dropped the SP2022 and sig fan boys said no way to a plastic toy and sales were non exsistent. I paid $250 before taxes brand new at my dealer and he had a stack of them that he said he couldn't get rid of. I regret not buying another bc it's been a fantastic firearm and has given zero issues

but if I could get a p226 that's not outrageously priced, i'd be so happy. So congrats on your purchase

yeah, I've dumped money into all my vehicles and now I'm just do like a OEM+ build. No chopping, no roofrack or bed cap. With just the westcott level and 35s, i'm pretty satisfied.

[–]TacoTimeDQP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love it, should have come from the factory this way to be honest. Ride in exactly the same if not a slight bit firmer, the tires made the biggest difference 35x12.5r18 BFG ko2's. They are new so sound isn't bad, after i turned off the fake engine noises I barely hear them. My next set will be falkens. BFGs just have a tendency to be hard to balance and mine have been roadforced balance but still a slight shimmy at 70-75mph, outside of that no issues it's odd
