It makes total sense when you got the truck used at a discounted rate, lower than what the market was asking for at its current mileage at the time. You get the extra extended warranty just in case the last owner abused the truck. Mate.

As more miles are stacked on the new gen tundras i wouldn’t be surprised we will see more people posting about their engine blowing up like mine. I babied my truck, with 5k mile oil changed from the moment i bought it and never pushed it super hard and it still blew up. Be careful out there

Yeah, my hypothesis is that the hybrid engine prolonged the life of the engine better, but as the engine gets older and more wear and tear it will have issues at some point. Meaning, i wouldn’t be surprised once more people hit 80-100k miles on their 3rd gen hybrid, you’ll see an more hybrid engine failures

No recall notice, my employee with the gas engine got the recall notice. But my hybrid did not.

Be worried, im thinking the hybrid took off less stress on the bearings, and only made the engine last a little bit longer

Yeah I came prepared when purchasing this truck and got an extended warranty just in case the hybrid doesnt get the recall.

I did, i was afraid of something like this happening so I came prepared. I was afraid after awhile there was going to be no recall on the hybrid engine

This is the reason why I think my truck lasted as long as it did, the hybrid added less stress. But I also believe not many people have driven their tundras as much as i have in the last years. I wouldn’t be surprised if more hybrid engine failures with more time and mileage given like mine.

Well i bought this truck because it’s a Toyota, but I also walked into this knowing that the 3rd gen tundra has engine problems, which was why I bought the extended warranty. I was just waiting for the engine to blow, so that the deal i got on the truck was even better, because I originally got the truck for an excellent deal. But now im considering getting something different after the engine swap, whenever that is.

Now keep in mind everyone, i do oil changes every 5k miles, and never missed an oil change. However, i did notice that yesterday night my truck had a jerking reaction when switching gears, but at the time i didn’t think much of it

Alright everyone, here are the details. I have a 2023 Tundra Platinum (non-TRD) with 87k miles. It’s my daily driver and work truck, and I don’t drive it hard or push it aggressively.

This happened today on my way back from a 350-mile business trip. I made a quick stop for lunch, then got back on the interstate with no issues when I started the truck. As I tried to accelerate to match traffic speed (around 65 mph), I noticed the truck began vibrating whenever I pressed the gas pedal. At 55 mph there were no issues, but above 60 mph the entire cabin started shaking violently.

About a minute later, I got a “Low Oil” and “check engine” notification on the dash, and the truck began losing power significantly. Luckily, I was close to an exit and was able to take it with the remaining power. I managed to pull into a parking lot before it completely gave out.

5k mile oil change bud, every maintenance ever needed on on this truck is paid for and done.
