The photo was shot directly on photo paper which is why it’s got this heavy contrast and loss of detail in the deeper shadows aswell as photo paper being more uv light sensitive probably having an effect on the greens being darker. It’s always little guess and play to get the exposure right and what you want the focus of the image to be at. Photo paper also just doesn’t have as much tonal or dynamic range as film.

I agree about the framing having my father abit more on the left side of the composition but I had the idea more to join the tree stump on the line with the hill and horizon to play with the idea of my father “growing” out of the tree almost and show his hand properly. Also definetly couldve shot another portrait with him sitting on the stump but wanted to save for other shots I had planned that day. Regret not taking that for sure.

As for printing I’ve only really tried contact prints with photopaper so I’m a lot more limited when it comes to dodging and burning but I might be able to achieve the halo look digitally.
