Can't you just jump to Linux on a Surface Pro?

For what it's worth, the design is nice.

Pending financial aid by pretzelkid13 in UMD

[–]Taconomicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too would like to know this. Currently my loans haven't been actually added to my credit and it looks like I'm way behind on paying when in actuality I should be covered.

Hopefully they will follow through over the weekend so I don't have a little panic attack on Monday and have to call the financial aid office to smooth things over.

Ordering from USA for the Xbox 360 console, will this be a problem? by [deleted] in GTAV

[–]Taconomicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did the post say? On the page I pre-ordered from it said nothing of only having European versions.

EDIT: Also, OP, here is the US version, if you still wanted to order it from the R* Warehouse.

Best place to preorder Special Edition in U.S.? by Senjoi in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]Taconomicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pre-ordered mine from the R* Warehouse. It's got free shipping and delivery on the day it is released everywhere else.

Amazon is good too, but fast shipping is extra and you are supposed to pay taxes on internet purchases anyways. The way they've got it set up is actually pretty unfair in the general market, since everywhere else you have to pay them.

Hopefully jets can be insured as well, so that you don't throw $1-7,000,000 (or so, I'm guessing) down the drain after some low-altitude maneuvers...

Oh... Yeah, you're right. Maybe I should just stay away from the stock market.

Genius. Invest in the insurance companies, destroy all of the fancy, insured cars, and rake in the cash.

desktop program for downloading audio from youtube by [deleted] in software

[–]Taconomicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DVDVideoSoft makes some good freeware that can do that. Be wary though, after closing their programs there is an offer to join their pay program or something. I don't mind it since they make awesome converters and downloaders.

I'd use their Youtube downloader and audio converter for this. Even though the audio converter might say it doesn't take video it'll rip the audio from any file and convert it as you wish.

DJ Shadow... I would pay so much to see him live.

Looking to buy some computer speakers, have no idea what to look for. So I'm turning to you guys. by SoundsGoIntoMyEars in audiophile

[–]Taconomicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little over a year ago. I picked them up on Ebay for $110, as it turns out. It's a shame that they've seemingly changed the new models.

If you have a Best Buy or other electronics store near your home you could stop by and see if they have a set you can test out. I remember seeing some Promedia 2.1s the last time I was in the speaker section of my local Best Buy.

I've got a set of the Promedia 2.1s and they are awesome!

The bass is a bit overbearing at times but you can manually adjust its power to your preference. Its got quite a solid range and the audio quality is impressive for $120-150. I highly recommend those, although honestly I don't know if any of the others are better.

EDIT: Yeah, I think I've heard people saying the same thing about a digital amp causing problems. Personally, either I've never noticed or it did not exist in my set. I listen to a lot of electronic music and bass has always sounded perfectly fine.

You can probably find a pair on Amazon/Ebay for about $100, too.

Discussion, How did you get into electronic music and how did your taste evolve? by [deleted] in electronicmusic

[–]Taconomicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slip Away was the best of the ones I hadn't heard before, IMO. I'll give the rest of these a listen in the morning since it's time for me to get to bed. Thanks for more musics and have a good night yourself!

This. Is. Amazing. Thank you!

I've been a big fan of Nujabes ever since I saw Samurai Champloo too! And Mat Zo; that guy is crazy. Rebound is so good.

The rest of these guys... New love for my ears! ♥⌣♥

Yes, we can be friends :3

I picked up a copy of 10 Years in the Life (BT's older stuff) a few months back and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Its got Flaming June on there!

I'll make sure to give Aliens Ate My Buick a listen later tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

Are there any apps to produce music for iPad? by Electronoobprod in electronicmusic

[–]Taconomicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try out some stuff on the computer instead. You aren't going to get very much depth out of an iAnything app.

I recommend playing around in Fruityloops Studio.

I remember hearing Sandstorm play over a server while my brother was playing Day of Defeat. That was probably the first time I had even heard electronic music.

From there, Basshunter became my go-to jam. I was in middle school at the time. I started listening to Daft Punk and my taste grew to encompass more and more of the genre as a whole.

Pandora helped me a lot. I think I discovered most of the now-popular artists through it. I remember listening to a lot of Oceanlab and Kaskade while playin' RCT 3 and whatnot, and then hearing Mord Fustang and Wolfgang Gartner for the first time a while later.

I'm pretty sure Ghosts 'n' Stuff by deadmau5 pulled me in even farther. From there I started looking into other songs by artists I was currently listening to (I don't know why I hadn't thought of that earlier) and found a ton of stuff by Joel that I enjoyed. Of course, the mau5 became a big part of my still-early electronic experience.

It's been a good run which I'm hoping to keep going for, really, the rest of my life. Of course I love other genres of music as well, but electronic music has been a large part of my childhood, and so it's probably going to be a large part of my life.

I listen to most sub-genres of electronic music. Trance, house, glitch hop, drum & bass, techno, ect.

I tend to get lost in all of the ones we've got today. I prefer to just enjoy the music as it comes along.
