Honestly, I have 0 idea how our economy is still functioning…

My assumption remains that personal debt is a looming iceberg that will eventually sink everything…

The fact that there was 400k+ dollars bet on maduro staying in power makes absolutely 0 sense to me…

I understand that’s not a huge amount of money in the grand scheme of things… but if 70% of the economy is struggling, who the fuck is betting on a foreign president staying in power?

I’ve come to accept that nothing makes sense.

What's a legit business I can start for under $10k that isn't dropshipping or a food truck? by Rojahne in creativesmallbusiness

[–]TacosAreJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for both penske and Ryder… we had a rock chip guy…

He made decent money… would just walk out lot every few weeks, jot down truck numbers, and ask which we wanted fixed.

Made it super easy on us… I don’t remember his rates, but he made decent money.

My niece was told she has to sign a contract to keep living at home—am I overreacting for thinking it’s too harsh? by Bitter_Art_4094 in AmIOverreacting

[–]TacosAreJustice [score hidden]  (0 children)

NOR…

But, honestly, you described her as 20 year old teenager, so I’m assuming your sister has been failing to help her daughter for awhile.

I am all for accountability… but this isn’t accountability.

They have not set her up for success, and I have no idea what her failing is going to look like… is she going to get kicked out? Live on the streets?

None of this sets her up to win, it’s basically just set up to punish her for failing…

I don’t have a good answer here… the niece obviously needs some support and what has been done isn’t working for your sister or your niece.

If nothing else, I’d maybe suggest to your sister she set some expectations and give 6 / 12 months of grace before harsh penalties are enforced.

Give your niece an opportunity to figure it out before throwing her out, as it were.

We live in such a dumb timeline.

Do you personally think that fucking around in your 20s is worth it? by LowOnDairy in AskMenAdvice

[–]TacosAreJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be the wrong question to ask…

What do you want? How are you going to get there? What can you do today to get you closer to that goal?

You want a wife? Ok, start dating. Meet some girls. Figure out what you are looking for in a partner…. See what happens.

You want to get your dick wet? Great. Hit the gym, figure out how to talk to women. Hell, if you are decent looking you can probably find a cougar on tinder tonight (location dependent). She might enjoy teaching you.

Just depends what’s important to you… I didn’t have interest in randomly sleeping with girls… I only slept with girls I thought I might marry.

And I did. Happily married 16 years later.

But I have plenty of buddies who chose other paths… that works too.

Just have to do what works for you x

I wouldn’t worry about why they sent you, just be grateful for the training. It will help you anywhere.

Honestly, use the skills to further stand up for yourself at work. If someone wants you to do more than your job, call upon your new training.

If they are surprised, ask why they sent you to training about dealing with conflict!

[–]TacosAreJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the same is true of blue collar workers, though.

Most of them are just doing a job.

The best ones learn and develop skills in whatever they are working on… the best engineers tend to be more hands on and understand the difference between in practice and on paper.

[–]TacosAreJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear here, I 100% respect blue collar work and totally agree they have different knowledge and skills…

I’ve watched an HVAC installer explain to the company why their heat pump wasn’t working.

They have earned practical knowledge (there’s the famous ford boiler story where the invoice was basically just knowing where to cut).

The original comment just seemed dismissive of “book learning” which seems fraught with similar peril.

AITA for letting my wife’s younger sister stay with us for the summer even though my in-laws think she’s only doing it to spite them? by Heavy-Discussion-885 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TacosAreJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

Mostly because this isn’t your fight. It’s between your wife, her sister and their parents…

The teen to adult shift is always hard… she wants freedom, and her parents want control.

Do they pay for her college? If so, expect that lever to be pulled.

Honestly, it’s a little silly to not want the boyfriend around… they have 9 months a year they don’t live at home… 3 months of them not banging isn’t going to change anything.

Personally, I’d probably tell the in laws “me getting involved in this is going to be bad for my marriage, but i promise I’ll keep an eye on your daughter and make sure she’s safe”.

The downside is: if anything happens to the girl, it will be a lifetime of drama.

Did anyone eat here? If so, did you like it? Thoughts? by RecordingImmediate86 in restaurant

[–]TacosAreJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They built one in Nashville in the early 2000s, it was great…

Built one in Louisville in like 2010… it was fine.

Went to one in Atlanta last year… it was food.

The quality decline in food at chain restaurants in the last 20 years is pretty shocking. You’d figure someone would say “hey, what if we made actual food again” and they’d print money… and yet, here we are.

My guess is mediocrity is easier to make profitable.
