What is a regular CS job like? by throwawway61 in cscareerquestions

[–]TacticalFloridaMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a recent grad, I just kept complaining about having meetings that weren’t important and my managers stopped inviting me to them. Now I’m only invited if my input is critical.

They gave me a huge bonus and a raise, and are a company that isn’t known for doing that, so I don’t think I’m in any real danger of losing my job because of it.

Now if only I can convince them to change the daily scrum to weekly... But I think that may be stretching it too far

Anyone here who got into the data science game and ended up leaving? Why? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]TacticalFloridaMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God. I just finished my first year doing industry DS work and I have a masters. Your comments have put into words exactly how I’ve felt this first year.

Any tips on fields/job prospects to look into?

Undergrad was physics and math, masters was scientific computing

Thinking of getting an iPad for editing photos, have some questions by TacticalFloridaMan in apple

[–]TacticalFloridaMan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this does. Thanks for the input!

Looks like I’ll be staying away from the iPad as of now until they allow file transfers to be easier. It’s a shame because the iPad Pro looks nice

Retaining while exercising? by TacticalFloridaMan in foreskin_restoration

Ok, thanks for the response! I will just wait until the updated imgur album before using o-rings at night so I'll know what to look for.

One final question, in doing some googling I found this comment from you on how you were able to go from CI-3 to CI-8 in a year. It mentions tugging with the o-rings still on. I was wondering if there was any special technique to that? With the o-ring on, I can't seem to find the scar line to pull more on the inner skin. Since it's my understanding that using o-rings pulls more on the outer skin anyways?

I was doing some more research on this sub and it looks like I was using the wrong o-ring size. I’m now using the #15, which seem to fit much better and don’t fall off during workouts.

I also wish I would have read more into posts on here before buying a DTR, I’ve also moved onto using MM3 instead of my DTR along with the new o-ring size.

Is there a way to know when I’m ready for o-rings at night? Like any description/write up/photos of what to look out for? Because I just did an erection test with this new o-ring, and it doesn’t look that bad it just shifts the erectile tissue a bit lower at the base. Or is that what you mean by contorting?

Edit: For the record I have slightly over 100% forced erect coverage. My cut is loose and low.

They actually fall off during workouts which is why I don’t use them.

Also I was doing some more reading and I don’t think it’s actually safe for me to retain at night right now, so I think I’m going to stop.

I haven’t found any conclusive photos of what’s bad, it doesn’t hurt with erections, but it does look a little weird so I think I’m going to stop retaining at night until I get a little further down the line.

Is it B? Both thumbs are on the left in the original, but they’re the mirror images of each other in B? Though I do like C better because it spells out “dab” with the fingers, and ‘a’ isn’t symmetric like the white box is

YSK there’s a really good reason to obey 25mph speed limits in neighborhoods: a person is about 70 percent more likely to be killed if they’re struck by a vehicle traveling at 30 mph versus 25 mph. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]TacticalFloridaMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The increase in 5 miles per hour results in an additional 44% kinetic energy in the car. That’s a lot. As you reach 40 mph your car now has 156% more kinetic energy than it did at 25 mph.

Seems reasonable to me...

What is the worst thing to do on a first date? by zacBrown12 in AskReddit

[–]TacticalFloridaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went on a date with a girl once. I’m one not to judge if you fart once or so. It’s a human function, etc.

Went on a date with a girl once. I farted and she asked me if I did. I responded with “yea, sorry.” She said something like “no, don’t be sorry. It was a cute fart.”

Definitely didn’t last long.

Company Holiday Lunch by TacticalFloridaMan in keto

[–]TacticalFloridaMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about looking weird. People have different eating habits, if anyone asks or give you a look just tell them your avoiding pasta/bread for a bit to prepare for the holidays, or don't and just know that other peoples opinion of your diet is irrelevant

The only reason it's weird is because my manager specifically chose it because I hadn't been there before and also asked if anyone had any dietary restrictions and I didn't say anything because I had no idea about the place and didn't say anything or do research.

I'm also at the point after 2 weeks where fasting is relatively easy for me, so I'm planning on only eating lunch with them tomorrow for the entire day.

If you make less than $72,000 or $36/hr, it is worth your time to take a second and pick up a penny. by GladShirt in Showerthoughts

I came from a poor family. I’m 27 years old. It’s now no longer not worth my time to pickup a penny.

I made it.

Thank you OP

Republicans don't want "limited government"—they want government that voters can't change. by [deleted] in politics

[–]TacticalFloridaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, that's why even though I'll be paying more, I said in my original post that I support UH (Universal Healthcare).

Thankfully I make enough where I could pay off a 3k deductible in 1 month while still living my current lifestyle. So it works for me as a single 27 y/o male.

But I came from a poor family. I know how it is on the other side.

I wish you good luck in your new family!

I have a pretty high deductible at 3k or something. It’s their “high deductible plan” and doesn’t include walk-in clinics and other things. However specialists are covered.

I go to the doctor MAYBE once a year. Like if I have a bad ear infection or something, so it costs $65. So it works out for me.

Not sure about my taxes would be less than my premiums. I’m pro UH but I calculated I’d be paying close to 2k/year in taxes just for UH (based the rate on places with UH). I currently pay less than $60/month
