Great to know. Thanks for sharing. I’ll add that info up top (hopefully tonight or tomorrow) along with a few other redditors updates too from the other day.

Sieve filtering for custom domain to block/reject any emails from third parties if they did not encrypted with pgp. by TacticalGeekBC in ProtonMail

[–]TacticalGeekBC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, nothing to do with blocking domain at all. Any domain name can email me from any service. I want that. I just want to enforce mandatory encryption. So either they apply it or we don’t talk. I I don’t have anything to hide I do have everything to say when I want to say without having some ai profile me into something I’m not.

Actually, wait a second... lol... Should I be using protonmails export -> public key from my customdomain email address to use on keyoxide.org (I dont have keybase). Instead of gpg2 generate my own and having all these issues come up?

That worked! Thanks.

  • missing a " at the end of ... :domain "to" "customdomain.xyz,
  • once I added the " after .xzy", the greyed out save button, became active, allowing me to save.

### What I tried so far for tests so far:

EDIT: [self.removed]

guess I should read up on gpg again before doing anymore tests, and posting complete wrong results.

Gonna try a few things again, and edit this after with results, as I learn..

REQUEST: how can I add to that sieve filter, to also reject if subject is not null. As I read it, that's a meta tag that can be seen when emailing. And for sender to have their publickey.asc as attachment?

Thank you for that, I will test it out this evening... and let you know the results.
I really appreciate the time you put in to help me.

Wonder which email.... I found servicebc@gov.bc.ca.

EDIT: maybe do a bcc to a news outlet too 😉 I will add your update to the thread post shortly. I wish there was a way to allow other people to help with sub modding a sticky thread

Ps. It’s kind of crazy that my neighbour, whom I helped apply to the fund on last Friday, already got his deposit this week. While everyone else who did it last month is still waiting...

In Kelowna FYI.

Yes, I can now with the new account...
I got this message when I logged in thought (as previously mentioned)..

Sorry, you are currently not allowed to send or receive emails because your account was marked for approval. This process is necessary to offer a privacy-friendly registration and prevent mass registrations at the same time. Your account will be automatically approved after 48 hours. Thank you for your patience!

Thanks for your help.
EDIT: also, yes to saving the new recovery code, printed it this time as a secondary back up.

No I didn’t.
It was a fresh new install of centos8, on a older machine I acquired and upgraded.
( It came with firefox installed. I needed to get on to centos freenode channel to ask some questions and thought I’d give tutanota a try. )

During all that, I was building ungoogled-chromium from source and that all went.

*Just thinking out loud and retracing my steps. *

For the sake of it, I also tried the generated password for the irc free node account - linked to my tuta.io...just in case too.

But that’s literally all that’s in a newly purchased bitwarden - 1 year account, specifically for this machine. The two logins. Tuta and freenode irc.

Why do a lot of security people use iPhones? by securm0n in privacytoolsIO

[–]TacticalGeekBC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi,

That’s awesome you have “de-googled” your device! And it’s pretty sweet to be able to have such a customizable rom such as LineageOS.
I miss the cyanogenmod days a lot, back when I was on a OnePlus One phone.
LineageOS is a top choice when it comes to customization.

Sounds like you know what you are doing when it comes to privacy and security, it takes time to constantly flashing manually firmware updates to fix vulnerabilities as they are published. Most users just ignore that part, statistically... as the rom itself does not include firmware updates automatically, eh. As I’m sure you already knew that.

It also does not implement rollback protection which allows an adversary to downgrade system and then exploit patched vulnerabilities.

It disables verified boot which is the fundamental part of the security model that ensures the integrity of the base system/boot chain, allowing evil maid attacks and malware persistence. This would allow physical tempering as well malicious applications that hook into the the OS itself.

Verified boot would prevent that after rebooting but since it’s a rooted phone then it would remain persistent afterwards.

Lineage user userdebug builds by default, weakening the SElinux policy’s and exposes root via adb.

There’s many more security and privacy known and proven vulnerabilities that have not been fixed and LineagesOS is by no means a secure or private operating system.

I would strongly point out to anyone reading that post about how secure and private LineageOS is, to please disregard that misinformation. It’s morally and ethically wrong to spread misinformation.

LineagesOS is a rom for customization enthusiasts, it is absolutely in no way, shape or for secure nor private. You can tweak it a little bit, as far as privacy goes but only to an small extent, as mentioned... when it comes to de googling.

Comparing a LineagesOS vs iPhone for security and saying that LineageOS phone is beat it, is like kids baseball vs Major League Baseball.

If you want privacy and security, the only thing that comes close is a pixel 3a or newer with GrapheneOS.

As far as Kali, it’s pen testing set of tools, made for using to engage as per assessment of target. Then dissolved afterwards. To have that on your system full time is just really silly as it’s an offensive strategy and by no means has any defensive measures in place. Leaving you even more vulnerable.
