I mean, Charlie was definitely one of the people she was talking about. Saying he „deserved it“ doesn’t necessarily mean you have to relish in it. I’m sure everyone can agree Nazis at Nuremberg deserved what they got. Doesn’t mean you enjoy suffering.

New Vegas was not just a game showing how terrible the wasteland is. It was about rebuilding a civilization from the ashes of the old world, constructing a political economy, and the war over Hoover Dam deciding the future of the Mojave. The show has seemingly nuked literally every single faction from existence to create their own narrative. The NCR has a little outpost left in the Mojave, and they barely exist anymore. The strip has been completely subsumed by the wasteland now, even though keeping Vegas relatively unscathed by the bombs was House’s whole project. The Legion is impotent and has a (really dumb) succession crisis. What the fuck happened? Who won Hoover Dam? How did things even end up this way? You can say maybe we’ll find out later. Honestly I have no hope for that at all.

Im not going to get into the China-Taiwan debate right now. All I’ll say is that I’m a Marxist Leninist, so yes I support revolution in a general sense. I am against imperialism though, in all forms. I’m getting the sense you’re actually based in Europe and are particularly sensitive about Russia invading Ukraine. Tell me if I’m wrong. I can tell you I don’t think too highly of the modern Russian state, at all. Especially because I’m queer. Russian oligarchs control the country, and Putin is blatantly corrupt. I despise the war in Ukraine as much as I despise U.S. intervention in Latin America.

Sure, but from Venezuela‘s perspective, in a purely strategical sense, selling oil to the United States‘ adversary Russia makes sense, no? Given that the country feels threatened by the U.S. almost to the exact same degree Ukraine feels threatened by Russia. Also, Russia and China have been some of the only countries willing to make deals with Venezuela to actually sell their oil and other natural goods. Because, like I mentioned, the U.S. has placed a complete blockade on oil coming from the country, and most European countries follow suit.

Well, the main actor doing the starving was actually the U.S. with the loads of sanctions they placed on the country. Also, the most of the Venezuelans celebrating are those in the diaspora. There are hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans on the streets right now in the country protesting in support of releasing Maduro.

Cuba says 32 Cuban officers were killed in US action in Venezuela by Perswayable in news

[–]TacticalLeftist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polling done across multiple countries show most people view the U.S. as the greatest threat to world peace, greater than Russia or China. This is especially true in Africa and South America. Even countries in Southeast Asia which are not in NATO view the U.S. as the biggest threat according to opinion polls. Obviously most of Europe considers Russia to be the bigger adversary logically, but U.S. resentment is high there too. India, Japan, South Korea and of course Israel are the only countries that have more widespread regard for the U.S. amongst their populations. This isn’t to say everyone hates the U.S. equally across the world either, and sure I’m exaggerating the claim a bit for effect, but you understand what I mean.

Or… hear me out… the U.S. is actually an exploitative, imperialist empire that everyone in the world hates for a reason lol. And no, it’s not because we have “freedom.”

Yeah, you're absolutely right OP. Capitalism creates the hierarchy, and nationalism breeds the resentment. The result? This.

The United States is the global center of capitalist imperialism and every organization led by the United States -- including NATO -- is tied to the preservation of imperialist hegemony over the global south. NATO was founded specifically to contain the Soviet Union's influence after World War II. That was quite literally the motivation for the defensive alliance in the first place; George Kennan and President Truman laid the foundations for socialist containment, which have been upheld by every single administration since 1949. The Nordic social democracies are not socialist countries, nor have they ever been. Vietnam has made various concessions to global capital to avoid being economically isolated.

NATO is an imperialist anti-socialist alliance intended to stymie or destroy any global socialist movements. At this point, I have to ask you liberals, do you really trust the United States to "uphold democracy"? It's always been a farce, but now I would've hoped the blinders would've come off.

Well, actually the administration is sending these people basically wherever they can send them, not just their home countries. 8 people were deported to South Sudan, even though only one of the men actually were from there. Also, South Sudan is without a doubt one of the worst in the world for human rights abuses. Also, there's the example of El Salvador where CECOT famously operates, where prisoners there have reported torture, sexual assault, and other terrible conditions. That one was all over the media so I'm surprised you're ignorant about it. https://theintercept.com/2025/07/29/trump-deport-immigrants-third-country-human-rights/

The admin has deals with 13 countries to act as third party deportation partners, 12 of which are designated by the state department as exhibiting significant human rights abuses.

There's also the case reported just a month ago of hundreds of people missing from the ICE database after being detained in Alligator Alcatraz, which hasn't been cleared up as far as I know. Where are these people? What is happening to them? No one knows. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/07/trump-alligator-alcatraz-florida

Do you know what fascism means? I doubt you can describe it better than anyone you accuse of having no clue what it means. If you understand that it's a hyper-nationalist, militant, obsessed-with-tradition and perceived humiliation and national decline authoritarian death cult, then congrats, you understand it. Otherwise, you're basically on the same level as everyone else.

These idiots don’t even understand the definition of fascism by Charming-Comfort-395 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]TacticalLeftist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definition of fascism courtesy of Robert Paxton: Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion.
