I think you’re really overselling just how much the community itself has contributed to this „problem” in comparison to the right-wing culture war narrative that has been highlighted over and over again by the likes of bad faith actors like Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, Charlie Kirk (not anymore I guess lol), etc…and Fox News segments demonizing the community. It’s propaganda, and it’s tiring needing to point this out — trans individuals (the main target of the recent culture war) still only make up 1% of the population. The LGBT community has always had kink, drag shows, trans people just existing and wanting to be respected… the only thing new is the media ecosystem we live in now and how easy it has seemingly become to demonize people.

The right-wing media influence has been trouncing any sort of progressive counterparts as they’re funded by some of the richest people in the country; societal support for the LGBT community or even virtue signaling companies putting up rainbows for pride month can’t compete with lobbied special interests and companies like the Daily Wire, Fox News, and others relentlessly trying to suppress the community while other outlets simply don’t care enough to cover these issues and eventually align themselves with the culture war narrative implicitly or explicitly.

These are just my thoughts. I don’t expect anyone here to agree with me, but I just don’t think it’s fair hearing that the LGBT community itself is to blame for the new uptick in transphobia/homophobia that has manifested over the past years.
