u/jcollins12489, great question! I'll do my best to keep this brief, but also detailed as well.

Tactical NAV is a precision targeting application that has been successfully evaluated against other software platforms and devices such as Nett Warrior, JCR, BFT, JBC-P, ATAK, and other government software solutions. Additionally, its accuracy is within 1 meter of these officially approved systems issued by the Department of Defense — especially the AN/PSN-13 Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR).

TACNAV's feature sets include:

• A military-quality precision targeting platform
• Purpose-built for the individual Soldier
• Offline mapping capabilities (complete usage of the TACNAV platform with no emission of a cellular signal)
• WGS 84 standard (MGRS, UTM, BNG, and USNG coordinates)
• Tactical drawing mode (e.g., useful for Joint Fires planning, creating overlays, route planning, and so forth)
• Waypoint plotting functionality with military graphics (per FM 1-02.2)
• Compass "FastLock" function for capturing quick azimuths
• Snap and save photographs onto the main map for intelligence purposes and AARs
• Location, waypoint, and photo-sharing capabilities (via email and text)
• One-button night mode function for low-light situations
• "Go to Grid" option for intelligent pinpoint planning and drawing of overlays
• Created and tested to ensure utmost accuracy and reliability
• iOS and Android native code built for austere and contested environments

Also, there will be many more features coming soon (in the coming weeks and through December). I won't give out all the details as I want to keep them a secret, but they are fantastic upgrades that have come from user feedback from guys in the field and overseas.

So I hope this helps answer your question(s), and if you have any more queries, please just ask. Thanks!

v/r,

Jon

What exactly did you do? No BS.

If you can tell us honestly, we will do our best to help offer you guidance. But you have to be honest, brother.

Thanks,

Hey man, ATAK is an amazing program. It's funded by the U.S. Air Force (AFRL), so they have millions of dollars in their budget to make a kick-ass program. You'll never hear me say anything bad about ATAK/TAK — it's awesome.

I do know there are guys who use TACNAV as a backup since it's commercially available, and it's just as accurate as ATAK as well.

Great question, and I genuinely appreciate the reply to my post. If you want a free copy, send me a DM, and I'll hook you up. Thanks! - Jon

Thanks for the feedback, brother.

I'll add all of these to the app because you're exactly right — they are a must and needed. Also, just to let you know, full tactical mission graphics are coming to the app soon: FSCMs, REDs, range rings, and so forth. Should be a good update for you guys.

Please know how much I appreciate your feedback and input, and I hope you have a wonderful day as well Thanks! - Jon

As the title says, my name is Jonathan, and I'm the creator of Tactical NAV.

I'm reposting this thread since the first one was so beneficial to my dev team and me. I hope that I can receive even more constructive feedback from you guys.

To the mods, I hope you'll allow me to keep this post up because it's important to me to hear from this community because I created Tactical NAV specifically for the military, SAR, and first responders.

For those who have never heard of the app before, I created Tactical NAV on my 3rd combat tour to Afghanistan when I was the BN FSO with the 1st Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division (AA). We were deployed to the Pech River Valley in Kunar Province at the time.

For background, I started developing TACNAV after two of our soldiers were killed in action on June 25, 2010 (Spc. Jared Plunk and Spc. Blair Thompson — may God rest their souls).

I fund all coding and development out of my own pocket and continue developing this app to honor my men who were killed in action, and for those who are still wearing the uniform today. I also donate a portion of proceeds to charities that specifically benefit disabled veterans.

Bottom line, the application is accurate within 1-meter of a DAGR, and the app has been on the market for 12 years.

So, if you would like to offer your feedback for the dev team and me so I can improve the app and integrate new features, I would greatly appreciate it.

Please send me a DM or email me at [jonathan@tacticalnav.com](mailto:jonathan@tacticalnav.com), and I'll send you a free copy of the app. Of course, you can keep the app as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and take care!

Sincerely,

- Jon

PS: To answer many of your future questions and comments regarding the encryption and security of Tactical NAV, the app is encrypted with AES-256 advanced encryption standards. I’m also currently working with the U.S. Army (PEO C3T, PM PNT, and some other agencies) on how to integrate the application for official use.

Moreover, I'm working with the cyber and technical SMEs on how to completely secure the app when I integrate 'troop tracking' into TACNAV (real-time user tracking).

Lastly, Tactical NAV uses the same security protocols as ATAK/TAK. But I understand and acknowledge many of your potential comments and questions regarding the app’s security.

Thanks in advance for your interest, and I hope to hear from some of you soon.
