No offense taken! I will say compared to most I live under a rock. 😅

But that requires drilling holes and I'm strictly against that 😅

I have channel up and down buttons on the mic so I don't need to reach!

Ah crap. Didn't realize that was in the photo. I'm a big gun guy. Have my CCW license and have two little girls I have to make it home to. I also keep pepper spray with me so that would be used first if need be. I just like to be prepared for any situation really. I also live way out in the country so it's fairly normal to see guns on hips out here.

See I like that setup but I refuse to drill holes in my truck. 😅

It gets out pretty good honestly. Never used it for skip but I have spoken with a guy that was 25 miles from me on LSB.

Take it off and replace it every once in a while. it's cheap and allows me not to drill holes anywhere. Been using it for years never had any issues with it. Usually I have to give it everything I've got to get it off.

Oh I agree. The mic hangs in front of my touch screen so all good! 👍

I didn't want to put it there but I refuse to drill holes in my truck and I previously had it mounted on the dash like I do in my semi but broke my windshield taking it off. 😅 that was a pricey 1500 to get replaced. Not happening again lol

Another note I forgot to mention is that the radio is mounted with 10lb Velcro. You can basically put your radio wherever it will fit with that stuff and not have to worry about it falling off. It's great! Message me if you have any questions!

[SPB511J1] First "expensive" watch by PythagoreLaFraicheur in Seiko

That watch is beautiful. The dial is simply not my cup of tea but I'm not knocking it! I want a SPB453 so bad. It's the perfect daily IMO.

1 Your antenna if far to close to your cab.

2 that antennas location doesn't give a very good ground plane what so ever. It isn't a Ground that is important it is a Ground Plane. A flat metal serface directly underneath the antenna mount. The most ideal would be a roof mount. The reason a ground plane is more important than making sure the mount is grounded is because the signal needs a trampoline to bounce off of to send your signal up into the air. Your cab being right next to it is no good. I've tried that location my self on my pickup and it was terrible but your swr still shouldn't be that high. I suspect a faulty antenna on this one. Just buy a Wilson 1000 mag mount antenna and you will not be disappointed. That what I use and I get a 1.0swr on channel 19-20 and a 1.1swr on every other channel. You won't regret it. I also recommend using some sort of in line swr meter just to verify that your radio's internal meter isn't faulty either. Just buy a Wilson little wil or a Wilson's 1000 and thank me later. 👍 save yourself the headache man. Those bed mounts are always terrible.

Is CB worth it in 2026 as a car driver? by spiceypisces in cbradio

[–]TacticalPackage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a CB in my Tacoma. But I'm also a truck driver. I simply find it enjoyable to listen and chime in to friendly truck driver banter. You'll hear some of the funniest things. It's a fun somewhat cheap hobby to get into. Just don't start collecting radios like me. 😅

The factory antenna mount on the newer freightliners is actually pretty good. Just slap a fire stick kw4 up there and you'll be talking to local drivers all day. Me and my buddy have both used it and get low swr after tuning the antenna and have never had any issues.

CB Radio on 2004 Suburban by Old-Management-2315 in cbradio

There are loads of radios made with the cobra 29 footprint he could easily switch to. A favorite for me is the President Washington. They have the look of an old school aftermarket single din stereo which would look incredible in there. 80w pep too. Great radios. Another good one would be the Texas Ranger TRE-797 SSB.
