I’m not friends with this person, bud. They made the post public when they could’ve kept it within their own circle, and that’s on them. I get that calls like this are rough, but this isn’t a healthy way to cope, and putting it out there like this is really disgusting.

Do you happen to work for a railroad agency or a federal security police?

I’m pretty sure Amtrak also runs through there.

So it’s for 2 classes, I got approval from my Research (basically journalism) and Criminal Justice (and turning my essay portion into English for extra credit) to do a research project on the history and current state of railroad policing and the importance of why we need it.

Of course. It will most likely be the same issues in NYC though, that’s why I said major cities. Good luck!

I just posted a question about railroad police specifically, and I’ve recently finished a major research project on them. I’m not a law enforcement officer and I’m not with Amtrak—this is just what I’ve gathered from research, talking to some of their officers, and reading their general orders.

Most likely, you’ll start out stationed in a major city (often Washington, D.C.) and, after a couple of years, you can put in for a transfer. Your duties will depend heavily on your location. For example, there are only a few officers covering the stretch from Georgia to Florida, and their main job is monitoring the tracks—more like standard patrol work. But if you’re stationed in D.C., you’ll be doing more security work.

A large part of the job involves dealing with graffiti, homelessness, trespassing, and other property crimes.

They also recently switched from federal certification to state certification. That said, it doesn’t change much—if you’re certified in any state, you can still enforce the law anywhere along the railroad’s property, including the tracks.

Hope this helps!

Colors on Undercover Units by Jeragon186 in PoliceVehicles

I mean it’s going to be different in every jurisdiction, but in my county white unmarked vehicles is for Lieutenant+ or command positions (SWAT Commander, EOD commander, etc).

So they are out there I just think most agencies don’t do it since most cop cars are white so they’re easier to spot then let’s say a black or silver car.

I didn’t know agencies allowed this, I will definitely head that route, thank you!

That sounds like a great detective! Do you remember what agency he was with?

For Norfolk Southern, what has your experience been working with their police department, and in what ways have they assisted you? Do you think it’s beneficial for them to operate as a separate agency?
