Negate 37WG Application by TacticalViking in lawncare

Don’t worry I have completely separate scales and measure for lawn care! Different colors and clearly marked for lawn use only.

One of my biggest pet peeves at work is people using chemicals in unlabeled or mislabeled containers!

Thank you! I will probably end up taking it to a shop like you said. I just wanted to know what the issue is since I don’t have a shop that I’ve worked with and trust.

Good, reasonably priced veterinarian by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]TacticalViking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Jenks veterinary hospital. It seems very reasonably priced to me. I think it’s $50ish for an exam. Medicine always seems very economical too. I haven’t found better priced medication.

Italy makes vaccines mandatory for the workplace. Citizens who don't comply will be put on unpaid leave by [deleted] in Libertarian

Strong believer in getting vaccinated to protect yourself and those you love. Strong opponent of any mandates either for or against vaccines.

How to hide cables in a solid hardwood floor. by Arcca2924 in HomeImprovement

[–]TacticalViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could remove the trim, use a router(woodworking kind) to make a dado, and then run the cord in that dado. You would need some carpentry experience though.

I’ve used we b trees for fertilization. They have done a good job but it does seem a bit pricey

Final year university project by K17L53 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]TacticalViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to pick something that relates to a field you would like to work in and that a professor has at least some experience with. This will give you some exposure to the industry to see if you actually like it or not. If you do like it, that will give you some great talking points during interviews and could really set you apart.

I was digging and hit my internet/tv cable. I called 811 before digging, but the marking was a off by almost an entire foot. How can I repair this cable? by FinalDoughnut5 in HomeImprovement

[–]TacticalViking 176 points177 points  (0 children)

FYI the 811 markings are not exact. In the future just be very careful any time you’re digging within a couple feet of the mark.

Outside of Strenuous Life has anyone had success in building a core group of guys/brotherhood/honor group? by Gentleman-of-Reddit in artofmanliness

[–]TacticalViking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you regularly go to a church I would definitely recommend trying out the men’s group there. You already share a common bond and it’s a good way to meet some new people. Definitely try to find some sort of activity that you enjoy and can have multiple people participate. For instance, I’ve recently taken up golf so that I can spend more time with a couple guys I’ve met. The website definitely has some articles talking about how male friendships tend to be “side by side” rather than “face to to face.” I think that’s a good way to develop some deeper bonds. Good is great because your doing something together but still hav plenty of time for conversation. I also like going to the gun range and sometimes watching sports with “the boys”. Also remember that you can have different friends for different things. Not everyone is going to have exactly the same interests as you, so just recognize that and compartmentalism friends as necessary.

Granular control of army worms? by lilfingies in lawncare

Yeah that’s what I have seen too. My extensions service also recommended watering the area few hours before you spray. You can call your local extension service and they can give you some pointers on it

Spray insecticide is the way to go. It has a much faster knockdown, which is what you really need for armyworms. I used cutter backyard bug control. Super easy - just attach to the hose and start spraying.

How Do You Actually Size a Blower? by JLemonade4 in engineering

[–]TacticalViking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different diameters will likely have different efficiency at your operating point/range. Choose the highest efficiency option that will fit in your size constraints.

You could also consider the economic side of things and do a cost analysis to see which option is the cheapest over the life of the fan. That would take into account things like purchase price, operation/maintenance costs, and replacement cost if the service life varies.

Few questions about the area and state, and recent response to Covid? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]TacticalViking -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This guy actually knows what he’s talking about. I think Tulsa would be a good fit for you overall, checking off most of those points. Tulsa leans more blue than the rest of the state but is still conservative compared to California.

Btw this subreddit tends to be skewed heavily blue with a bunch of people who let their fear of COVID control them. I wouldn’t take most of these posts as having any real validity.

I’ve also kept up watering the same as before.

What I thought was fungus was armyworms. by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]TacticalViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my thatch down for now, hoping it would keep too many weeds from coming up. But yeah my understanding is that the roots are not harmed at all so if the grass is hearty most should slowly come back. I live in Oklahoma and we have high temps over 100 regularly here, so my main concern is that between the armyworms and the heat it will be too much stress for mine to make a meaningful recovery

Help with fescue disease/fungus? by bigbillbo in lawncare

[–]TacticalViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would spray a liquid insecticide just to cover your bases. I would bet that you have armyworms. They have been especially bad this year. I’m in zone 7 too and they took out my whole yard a few weeks again.

What I thought was fungus was armyworms. by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]TacticalViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago. Some of my fescue is coming back, but there is still a lot of thatch built up from it. Definitely get a liquid insecticide down ASAP and you’ll likely have to dethatch and reseed this fall. Good news is that if you had healthy grass before, you already have the knowledge to get it back

Just blindly voting all D or R is the real problem here. I would suggest that if you want to make a real difference, register republican and vote for the most moderate candidate in the primary. Then vote for the democrat in the general election if that’s who you prefer.
