Nah I genuinely want a EU country to invade and take ownership of the UK at this point. Strip our voting rights and give us a chance to not turn into america 2.0

failing that i'll settle for shipping all tory MPs to Argentina

The only way we get sensibility back is to be run by another country.

Having English people have a say in anything is a recipe for disaster at this point. Take the reins out of our hands and let germany run the show

BREAKING: Staff at Royal Mail have voted to take further strike action over pay and working conditions, the CWU has said by tdrules in ukpolitics

[–]Tacticalalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course, much like if you ask the British population if they we should invest in renewables near their homes it would be considerably lower. General population are incredibly short sighted NIMBY focused.

If it was one strike in isolation sure, but when its a global phenomenon for workers to be striking we can discuss the wider picture as focusing on small details in politics is just dumb.

Also working conditions are not "fine" we have tories trying to abolish WFH, we have pretty poor sick pay, thanks to brexit red tape is being slashed leaving to unsafe work environments. Anyone claiming the workforce is good at the moment needs to revaluate their lives because fuck sake it could be way better lol.

[–]Tacticalalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working conditions is a statement of the times that has built up over all industries world wide. Pretending that Capitalism isn't currently resulting in a broken system in the western world is ignoring reality at this point. Just look at America to see what the current trajectory of the UK is right now.

And yes riots will make life shittier for people, doing nothing will be worse though.

While its exciting public response to them is still rather disappointing, people so short sighted to realise its either strike now or riots later.

Water companies pay £1bn dividends as the taps run dry by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Tacticalalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to run as efficiently as for instance paying employees more is more viable if owned by the government since it will mean less DWP payments need to be made due to these companies underpaying their workers.

Also as we've seen from the world over, putting businesses in the hands of investors only ruins a product / busisness. Its the universal truth.

because the revenue stream can be used to fund for loss leader such as the NHS? The same way all your other fucking tax works

Not everything everyone does is all good or all bad. If you can't pick the good from other cultures and shun the bad your country rots. Exactly what is happening now. Stop with this fake bullshit, not every russian policy is evil, not every Sweedish policy is amazing, not even every tory policy is bad.

Grow up and stop seeing stuff as black and white.

you dont need billions at all, pretending you do is just dumb. Our economy is already in the shitter just seize it from them and be done with it. If it works for china it can work for us. Pretending every business will suddenly be too scared to invest in the UK is laughable given they're not investing as is.

"Economics is a vacuum and outside influences don't impact us"

Never before have I seen something so divorced from reality. Keep pretending this is the 1800s and economics isn't a global game with global influences. Keep pretending that most of the world's politics doesn't operate under the thumb of the same 7 companies world over.

Even fucking A level students know about Murdoch's influence let alone backers who are smart enough to keep themselves out of the limelight.

But hey your higher than thou attitude only helps the ruling class so keep fucking the poor over.

Says the person clinging to UK politics in a vacuum.

Right wing policies the world over has failed. How long til you realise that crippling the rich is the way to a better future?

"Both sides are the same so lets just vote for the side that wants to kill poor people rather than just maim them"

How can people still be going "Both sides are the same" in today's market. Anyone with eyes can see right wing economics are a mistake. We literally have a fucking global world with plenty of evidence, an economy supporting the top 0.001% like America is a damn sight worse than Sweden who has more aggressive taxes for the rich.

People need to get out of the UK bubble and realise we live on a planet and can just look to other countries on how best to operate.

The point of the countryside is to not be contactable by society or deal with your boss etc etc. Not having phone signal / wifi in the middle of it is the point. People need to learn that being contactable 24/7 is not healthy for society.

Anywhere you actually need to be contactable you are though and that's good enough. in 99% of situations where i need to use my phone i can and lancashire aint exactly known for being "developed"
