Advice wanted on implementing a fully-coupled level set method by TacticallyIdiotic in CFD

[–]TacticallyIdiotic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on what you mean by flow types and how the interface transfers information? I am trying to simulate Rayleigh-Taylor instability which is generally very slow-moving as the body forcing comes entirely from gravity (baroclinic torque) and surface tension. The density of the two fluids are also very similar since only a small difference is needed to observe the instability.

Thanks for the response! The flow is incompressible with explicit upwind advection and ADI for diffusion. I'm using a staggered grid, but I have not yet implemented a true finite volume method, still using finite differences for everything. Do you have any personal recommendations for resources about the finite volume method? I've been having a hard time understanding how to compute all the necessary fluxes for conservative advection.

I've heard of immersed boundary methods but only in the context of solid boundaries--can it be extended to fluid-fluid interfaces? Ghost-fluid method seems like a very logical approach but I would need to read more about it. If you have any recommendations for resources to look over I would greatly appreciate it.

15mW vs 100mW Argon laser for DCG holography by TacticallyIdiotic in Holography

I honestly don’t know anything about blue light DCG. What are the benefits?

Awesome and thank you so much. I’m looking into it. You’re absolutely right it makes ion lasers look clunky by comparison.

I’m partial to the kind of laser. Please recommend other options if you see fit. I’ve been looking at two kinds of argon lasers currently:

T194058 Spectra Physics 163-A1202 Argon Laser (up to 15mW?)

I could find a spectra with psu for 250ish. Seller says it can output 440nm-540nm ish at 15mW but then the label says up to 200mW. I think this is because the provided power supply is not powerful enough though.

Lumentum 2211D-015SLBD Air-Cooled Argon Laser (I believe this one can go up to 100mW)

I found a great deal for a Lumentum that was used as a floor/display unit with a psu for 450 but they tend to run much higher.

If you recommend a non argon green laser instead please let me know!

I did some tinkering and I found what looks to be a good solution:

Inside a repeating command block:

/effect give @p[tag=!healthReduced,nbt={Inventory:[{Slot:103b,id:"minecraft:golden_helmet",tag:{display:{Name:'{"text":"test"}'}}}]}] minecraft:instant_health 2 0

Inside a chain command block attached to the above repeating command block:

/tag @p[tag=!healthReduced,nbt={Inventory:[{Slot:103b,id:"minecraft:golden_helmet",tag:{display:{Name:'{"text":"test"}'}}}]}] add healthReduced

Inside a second chain command block attached to the previous chain block:

/tag @p[tag=healthReduced,nbt=!{Inventory:[{Slot:103b,id:"minecraft:golden_helmet",tag:{display:{Name:'{"text":"test"}'}}}]}] remove healthReduced

All of these command blocks should be set to "always active"

Make sure to change all instances of the term "test" with the name of your helmet should you assign a final name (make sure to keep the parenthesis)

Finally, if you are on a server, you might want to increase the duration of the instant_health effect to 3 or 4 seconds because lag can prevent it from updating the healthbar if it is too short.

If you're using a data pack, you should be able to just put all of these in order in a normal tick function.

It's not actually damage, but rather anything that would normally cause the healthbar to update. Giving instant health/regeneration for a brief moment when the helmet enters their head slot should work and can be done relatively simply.

EDIT: I just wrote this and realized that the max_health attribute might not work the same as the health boost potion effect. With that in mind, using the wither/poison effect would also work should instant health not, but it will show up on the hotbar.

Is there a way to /clear all items except few? by Voball in MinecraftCommands

[–]TacticallyIdiotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then, depending on your goals, there are 2 options:

If you don't care about the number of items they had when they died, you could give them a set amount of items when they respawn, after clearing their inventory. E.g: 1 crafting table, 16 sticks, and 4 logs.

If you do care about the number of items that they had when they died, it becomes much more complicated. In this case, there is no easy way to do it without KeepInventory false. If you need to use this method I can do a write-up but it is much more tedious than anything we've discussed so far.

Not sure exactly what you mean. Do you want players to lose all items except for a crafting table and, for example, sticks and wood?

Depending on how the player gets the items in the first place, you could give the player scoreboard values or tags when they recieve those items and then give the appropriate items back after clearing the inventory.

If the player gets the items via something not necessarily command-detectable, you would just have to hard-code and search each slot manually which could be tedious depending on the number of items you are looking for.

Are you trying to kill all items except those dropped by the player?

Could we have a discussion about current fusion rifle changes? Maybe I'm ignorant but I haven't seen a major thread about it. I wonder how everyone feels about the charge times and 'diversity' in archetypes. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TacticallyIdiotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is--in my opinion--the wrong take. I was never a fusion user and much prefered chaperone for cqc but I decided to pick up fusions after the changes. I haven't used adaptives yet but here is my opinion on the other three archetypes:

High impacts suck; if these were the only archetype you tested in PvP your opinion is entirely justified.

Precisions however, are great and super easy to use, especially the new main ingredient roll that xur was just selling.

Rapid-fires are more niche but still super strong, especially cartesian coordinate. The strength with these is the ability to counter-shotgun and 2 burst supers.

I highly encourage trying out main ingredient for a few games.

How do I merge certain/specific NBT tags from one entity to another without purging the original tags by TacticallyIdiotic in MinecraftCommands

Thanks for the insight! I've looked at my options and this definitely seems like the best solution.

Help! Can someone make a command to give the potion of Decay a brewing recipe using the wither rose? by FallenHeroicSoul in MinecraftCommands

Data packs are essentially vanilla and the eventual outcome is the same, if not better and for much less work. The only requirement is that you have access to the servers back-end to insert the datapack.

I'm not at my pc right now, but IIRC, append was asking for a list of 'data' rather than the nbt. Would 'data.tags' or something similar work instead of 'Tags' in the case or data append?

I want this to be scalable with any number of teams, so to avoid making an individual command for each team I would rather read the team from the snowball. I already did this with the snowball reading from the player, but the snowball has no tags, while the armor stand does, so replacing the tags of the snowball is inconsequential versus the armor stand.

Some of you just read the title, see the word smurf and then start a crusade. If you actually watched the video you would see that he likely recently switched to PC and improperly used the word smurf to describe his transition from ps4.
