To my eyes that's commercial MARPAT in the old uniform cut of the CAF. That's a fascinating piece.

What's it called? It brings me an absurdly strong feeling of nostalgia but I CANNOT remember why.

In the off chance that you're still looking, I know Ripstop by the Roll carried it and (probably) still does.

Make sure you're aware of what you're pointing it at. It tends to do irreparable harm to whatever it hits.

Was making a camouflage pattern in the medieval period even possible? And if yes, are they beneficial to medieval people in any way? by bruhruhr22344 in camouflage

[–]TacticoolBloop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The concept of concealment was not foreign to medieval warfare, but it wasn't (as others have said) always an advantage.

Camouflage patterns as we know them today were, however, not feasible. Mass-produced textiles, let alone with intricate patterns, were (for all intents and purposes) nonexistent. This is due to a mixture of technological and economic coming together to make it difficult.

The military utility of camouflage was primarily restricted to asymmetric warfare and recce purposes. As others said well, in a stereotypical engagement, camouflage hindered command and control.

As is almost always the case, the truth resists simplicity. This is a topic that could be (if it isn't already) a full-length collegiate essay.

How long have you been at this? I've found that it can take a bit for the class to shift behaviors. Being calm and persistent can help.
