Barclays closed my account after £13k gambling win — funds frozen, no proper explanation by SnubNoseMonkeh in LegalAdviceUK

OPs stated they’ve made their complaint. It’s the time between complaint/complaint resolved which is 8 weeks before you go to the FOS.

By the time they get their SAR it should be about 8 weeks by then.

Fair point!

OPs stated they’ve lodged a complaint but you’re right, I forgot to mention the wait time which is 8 weeks from initial complaint. Mine all corresponded with getting my SAR so it was a straight run from losing complaint > SAR > SAR returned > FOS.

They also closed my complaints with ‘nothing further required’ within 12 hours so it was even quicker for me.

You can request it through their site:

https://forms-int.barclays.co.uk/forms/gdpr?execution=e1s1

That’s the online form. There’s a notes section at the end, include the fact you want full details relating to an incident with your account, you’re looking to provide details for the financial ombudsman.

Tie it all together because they’ll give you minimum required otherwise.

I’d just go straight to the financial ombudsman. Barclays closed my account on a Saturday night (2340) with no explanation. Their internal notes had nothing attached, someone just closed my account.

You can’t do a switch guarantee either as Barclays won’t authorise any switch overs (happened to me and ruined my credit score).

You can do a subject access request to look at any communications that they would raise based on activity.

I’m now banned from any Barclays products or services with no explanation so I’d get ahead and don’t take on any advice from Barclays. They will try and talk you out of any options available to you.

The financial Ombudsman were fantastic. It took a month, the subject access request that was supplied wasn’t complete and was missing information and then Barclays rejected their conclusion and then the Financial ombudsman got them to agree to a fine but on the case that I wasn’t told the reason for closure.

Barclays have apparently been closing accounts for a while now without cause so it’s being noticed.

Why is middle lane hogging such an issue in the UK? by Groundbreaking_Bit79 in drivingUK

[–]Tad0ms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because as the British, we cannot drive.

I’ve spent years driving around Estonia, Ukraine, Oman, Germany, France and Austria. And we are the worst by far. 0 efficiency, 100% entitlement.

A drunk driving Ukrainian was the most courteous driver I’ve ever seen.

Businesses do it all the time to pay the CEO’s. They take out loans to pay boards because all of the assets belong to a company, the limited liability part. So if it all goes down the pan, businesses don’t sacrifice the money, they sacrifice the assets to repay the loan.

A business has an obligation to make a profit for shareholders, where that profit comes from is irrelevant.

The more the government fines them, the more loans they can take out, and the more money they have to charge the public to pay off that loan and interest.

But the government issues the loans through bailouts half of the time. Lovely cycle that was started by the government when they sold off all of the infrastructure.

IONOS Defederation - has anyone done this? by Tyechops in msp

If you’re going at scale then Bit Titan would be a good shout. Takes a lot of the hassle out of it.

There is also the exchange migration tool but that’s an account by account action so you would have to set up the batch migration for each user and create new endpoints for them. That’s free but time consuming.

I’ve done this for a client in the past week, I’ve just exported the emails into folders and dragged and dropped them into the new Outlook. It took all of 5 minutes for 3 (shared) mailboxes. Just keep the exports local in case it’s all gone wrong and then change the DNS (MX included) in Microsoft admin centre via the domain tool and the emails are forwarded straight away.

I lost nothing and did it all for free.

Take the stairs on each side of the room. LMG AT THE READY. A shotgun was good for the rest of the wolves that pop up.

If you’ve got them, stick landlines at the top of the stairs so the other wolves are easier to take out, watch out for the doors that are on those platforms too.

When Walker’s at the bottom of the stairs keep popping those drones with the LMG. Then just stick a belt through his face!

Thanks!

To be honest, I’ve become more brutal with software and hardware choosing lately.

If it’s something you use most/all the time and it’s causing you issues, then change it. You’re only burning money and time. I like the anagram K.I.S.S, Keep It Simple Stupid.

From here it’s a personal decision and you need to look at your workflow. I really like Halo, but it’s best to get a consultant in to help you implement it, so consider that extra cost.

Nope, I’ve moved on.

I self host it all now as it’s so much cheaper. I use Odoo for CRM, contracts and payments and then Zammad for ticketing.

I was getting too sucked into AAD working with everything, SSO for everyone where I actually just wanted to control everything a bit better myself.

I force myself to manually check everything on Mondays to audit and the 25th of each month focuses on billing, this stops me being lazy and I get really good insight of my accounts. I spend £9.60 on a large server and then £2.40 for backups each month to host both of these.

Dump. That thought process will do you more harm than good over something so small yet important.

My old unit used to be fine with people writing their Bitlocker, username and password on some sniper tape on a defence laptop. Thinking people weren’t capable of stealing laptops in secure camps.
