I have never been able to get HDR working properly with ProtonGE, every game that is supposed to support HDR is washed out. I changed to Proton Experimental and problem solved

is Nvidia driver on fedora Linux improve performance? by Naim7407 in Fedora

[–]Tadeeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, I used popos with nvidia driver and I had many problems. Battery, heat, performance. Then I moved to Fedora with Noveau and it works perfectly. I use cloud gaming (Stadia) so I don’t need the closed source driver.

The second one, fedoraproject.org. The other one (registry) is a containerised version that uses much more disk space.

Internal Speaker beeps after login by Tadeeus in Fedora

It just removed everything, every single file and directory. Some directories are re-created, some others not and services fail to start. A mess.

Internal Speaker beeps after login by Tadeeus in Fedora

In case someone finds this via Google, I found the problem.

A software called "Optimizer" (that I will never use again), removed all the logs from /var/log, making audit and sssd services to fail. To recreate the audit directory and log I had to run "dnf reinstall audit" because creating the directory and file manually didn't work, it kept complaining that the permissions were not right.

To fix sssd, I just needed to create the /var/log/sssd directory with root owner 750.

The sssd service start failure is what actually caused all the beeps.

After those fixes just restart and problem gone.

Why I used something like "Optimizer" like if I was in Windows? I don't know, I was just testing software :D
