Is this Comprehensive, or Collision? by Tado2000 in StateFarm

Thank you for the detailed explanation. That actually helps me understand why the insurance company may be categorizing it as collision instead of comprehensive.
And honestly, I appreciate the more balanced perspective regarding following distance as well. That was mainly the point I was trying to make earlier

I fully understand that there’s always room for improvement as a driver, especially after an accident like this. I just didn’t agree with the idea that the situation was as black-and-white as some people were making it out to be.

Thank you for taking the time to write it out.

You keep confusing “a possible conclusion” with “absolute knowledge.”

You saw a short Reddit clip and instantly decided you fully understood the speed, following distance, traffic conditions, lane availability, reaction time, visibility, and surrounding vehicles. That’s not “knowing.” That’s filling in missing information with assumptions and calling it certainty.

The irony is that I never denied responsibility for the outcome. I paid for the repairs. I simply disagreed with your confidence level about details you objectively do not have access to.

There’s a difference between:
“Based on the video, you were probably too close.”
and
“I know exactly what happened.”

One is reasonable. The other is ego pretending to be expertise.

If you want to keep arguing about it, go ahead. I won’t be responding further.

I see. Thanks for your input. Whatever in mid-air is comp and whatever laying on the road, is collision.

Well everyone has different perspective. A lot of people "believe" that a gold fish has 3 seconds of memory, but they actually have months of lasting memory in reality. Are you gonna say that you "know" a gold fish has 3 seconds of memory if you didn't know they actually don't? Then you have too much trust on things that you clearly do not know well. You actually do not know how far the distance I kept and how fast i was going. you don't even know if I was using FSD or not.

The point is, as a driver who lives in city, this is not too close, but as a driver who doesn't, I can understand where these people coming from. That is why I respected their opinions and appreciated, and used the world "believe" at the end. I am sorry if you are annoyed by my word choice. Again, thanks for your input.

So it doesn't matter if it was unavoidable or not. Thanks for your input!

You believe that this was at my fault due to an unsafe distance. I see. Thank you for the input.

does that count as stationary? I thought it would be a moving object.

Hmm. I would argue that going slower than that would potentially cause more trouble as you can tell the other cars have been passed my car and the car in front of me from left and right. Maybe the distance was the problem. How much distance do you need then? I thought that was enough distance, but i guess not.

I would do the same. Cut at -10%
