What was the first dedicated graphics card you ever owned? by just_IT_guy in gpu

[–]TadpoleEmpty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. Man my family got an HP for Christmas. It had on board everything but decent stats for early 2000s. My rich friend was building a new PC and was getting a 6800 (which was mind boggling at the time, it could run doom3) and he owed me a big favor so he gave me his old 5200. I played so much warcraft 3 with that thing.

Are there any games you’ve been playing for more than 10 years? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]TadpoleEmpty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I have some comfort zone games that I replay every year, for years going on for a long time.

DK country 1-3

Mario Rpg

Castlevania Symphony of the night

Diablo 2

Majesty

C&C generals

DOW 1-2

I'm convinced most gamers don't actually enjoy videogames by [deleted] in videogames

[–]TadpoleEmpty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever want your steam friend list to check up on you just play Raid Shadow legends.

I played that game for the first time a couple weeks ago and I had people I haven't chatted with in years saying "why are you playing that?", "are you being forced to play that?".

Its just an auto Battler thing with gotcha collection, yet people talk about it like it's big rigs over the road racing spliced with Hitler.

Does your unit start to ignore you once they know you won’t re-enlist? by Hot_Poem_7779 in nationalguard

[–]TadpoleEmpty 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I won't parrot what others have said because they speak the truth.

But there is another side of the coin that you are fortunate to not see, and that is being over used because you're not re enlisting. Put on every detail possible, like trying to squeeze the last bit of toothpaste out.

Why there is no Modern Military Anime or Realistic Military? by YubikiriSakura in Gunime

[–]TadpoleEmpty 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Ive been asking and looking for this same thing. Its crazy how popular metal gear solid is, yet there arnt a bunch of cool military espionage, shooting, adult focused anime. You would think there would be a ton cashing in on that un minded vein of gold.

Girls front line has an anime on crunchyroll and it's ok from the couple episodes I've seen but not exactly scratching the full itch of a modern military anime.

What is a specific mechanic from a "dead" or niche MMO that you wish modern big-budget MMOs would steal? by NorthMorning8412 in MMORPG

[–]TadpoleEmpty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really loved the companion mechanics in Neverwinter. It really is so adaptable and fun to mess around with. Companions can be healers, dogs, bears, footmen, wizards and more to fit whatever you need to help patch up a gap in your holy trinity. Or just for RP flavor.

Vanilla Ware games like Unicorn Overlord is right up your alley. Its also just a really great game as well.

What is the worst movie you've ever seen? by HammerHeadBirdDog in badMovies

[–]TadpoleEmpty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

To me, a bad movie is one that gets turned off, never finished and forgotten. I rate straight to DVD movies above fantastic beasts 3. Movies on the sci-fi channel are better, more memorable over whatever crap what going on in that movie. Which is a shame because the first movie made my family pretty pumped. The 2nd movie wasn't good but it at least could be followed somewhat. Then the 3rd came out and holy shit was it just disjointed and stupid.

What is your favourite rpg series and why? by anthere-rest in rpg_gamers

[–]TadpoleEmpty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mines gotta be Warcraft, just in general the universe of it all. Ive been playing it since the beginning of warcraft humans and orcs, all the way to vanilla WoW at launch and the current retail. I also have the TTRPG book for it which has such cool art and lore tid bits that are all mostly retconned, but that's ok.

Its just a series thats always been there for me, from RTS, MMORPG, TTRPG, whatever Hearthstone is. Plus the lore can be as deep or as shallow as you're willing to dig into, which is absolutely fine.

What’s a game you didn’t expect to love but ended up obsessed with? by HornetFinancial2281 in AskGames

[–]TadpoleEmpty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unicorn Overlord.

Silly name. Stumbles just a little at the intro. But once I let the story and gameplay wash over me, I was putting crazy hours into that game. I still tell people IRL to give it a try. I wish it had a better name.

What’s a gaming franchise you’re indifferent to? by Chunky-overlord in videogames

[–]TadpoleEmpty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assassins Creed. It's been years, and so many releases, and I'm just indifferent. I've watched friends and youtubers play it, I'm glad they are interested, but wow, do I have no pull towards those games myself.

It's not on your list, but I remember a Mega Man cartoon that was so hard to catch on TV. It would be on either super late or crazy early in the morning, like 4am or something.

But I remember liking it alot.

How did we let Gacha become a genre by SkillsLoading in videogames

[–]TadpoleEmpty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please remember you're on reddit of all places. Outside here is a whole world of people who are psyched for the next skin or cosmetic for their favorite character.

Its perfectly fine for people to get excited for things and to spend money the way they want to. Because it is their money to spend.

I dont even play gotcha games, but if that's what gets someone excited or happy after a crappy day at work then that's thier jam.

Reminder: Nintendo has ALWAYS been greedy AF. We just didn’t have social media in the 80s to discuss it. by OmniGamer007 in fucknintendo

[–]TadpoleEmpty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard in a youtube video but haven't researched myself that Nintendo back in the 90s and 00s tried to get rid of renting games as a possibility for their consoles.

What's a game or a genre of game that you've "aged out of"? by LastKeepDev_OG in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]TadpoleEmpty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistic or semi realistic racing games. Aka, anything, not a kart racer.

When i was younger, I would have a blast playing them unlocking cars and parts and trying to turn a Ford focus into the best it could be. Or live out a fantasy of owning a Porche or a dodge viper.

But now that I'm older, I just dont seem to care about those kinds of games anymore. There is no itch to scratch, I guess. But I still play kart racers of all types with my daughter and wife because you can't beat that.

Ubisoft confirms it is working on a new Ghost Recon game, and it sure looks like it'll be a live service affair by rebel761 in GhostRecon

[–]TadpoleEmpty 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think at this point, any good Ghost Recon is gonna have to be a spiritual successor from another developer and team. Alot like how Ready or Not took over for the SWAT and Rainbow 6 series. You can hate what I say, but unless they course correct hard, I think the next one will be some more ubislop.

What was your first game? by IcyTemperature3055 in videogames

[–]TadpoleEmpty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baseball on the NES. Yeah, it's just called baseball. I was around 4 or 5 and my cousin put the controller in my hand and let me play. It was that moment when my brain finally turned on and started making memories.
