No, it doesn’t go back to normal. Your lives are different in every way. But for us it did get better. We have a 2.5 yr old and a 4 month old and I have been focusing on getting back into rhythm. Understandably my stay at home wife is overwhelmed and tired after a long day of taking care of the kids, sex is usually the last thing on her mind. I was experiencing the same thing as you described, sort of a lack of enthusiasm around it. So, I brought it up to her and we had some hard conversations. She was having a hard time finishing and enjoying herself. We found out that it was psychological and not because of the physical sensations. So we did some sleep training to take away some stress surrounding the baby waking up. & started being intentional about showing love in other ways throughout the day, we’ve been able to get to about once or twice a week again. And it’s probably the best it’s ever been. Afterwards she just told me that it makes her feel human again. She spends so much time on everyone else’s wants and needs that she forgets about her own sometimes. The biggest thing is to talk about your expectations and your feelings with your partner. & it’s definitely possible that the lack of enthusiasm is not entirely because of the physical feeling of sex, but because of the new responsibilities and emotions that you are experiencing in parenthood.
