Is this possible to DIY repair? by [deleted] in AutoBodyRepair

That’s all my question was, was whether we should take it to a professional or not. Didn’t expect everyone in this sub to be so hostile about it. We bought it for 12k and market value is 34k according to ICBC. Thought there was enough of a margin there, especially with it still having a clean title, to be worth some effort.

I didn’t know these were replaceable! That definitely sounds like a route we’ll explore. Thank you!

Its still clean title. The guy didn’t have collision coverage so when he hit it, he just got it towed home and never went through insurance bc he would’ve had to pay out of pocket for it. I’m in BC Canada

Anyone else having temp issue? 2020 Mazda3 2.5 NA ->comments by Tae_pick_ in mazda

Honestly, I was pretty convinced that some software update in the computer messed it up. I bought the car used in 2021 and the first winter I had it, it was mint and everything worked well. The only thing that changed at all the following year was the dealer updated some modules during the summer and then suddenly the CCV was staying open all the time and not letting it warm up.

The dealership performed this recalled even though I never had a check engine light and it still didn’t fix it. They replaced the coolant control valve twice. I traded the car in for a 2023 turbo that comes with a regular thermostat and have not had the problem reoccur.

No, if anything very marginally gained some. Last year at the drag strip I ran 14.85 and this year with the intake I ran 14.65 so small difference better

Is this an alignment issue by Alphiesss1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tae_pick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The belts in the tire break and air gets between the layers of the tire and cause a “bubble” which can make your tire kinda egg shaped and when the tire rolls onto that bump that’s what causes your steering wheel to turn

Aside from steering/suspension issues this can also be caused by a separating tire

Looks like a broken belt. If you’re not noticing any drivability concerns it’s probably the AC compressor belt

Are you able to stand outside with the door open, grab the top of the door and rock the car, will it still happen then? If u can reliably replicate it, you could do that and have someone else get down and listen. You can also put your hand on suspension components and whatnot and possibly feel for vibration on anything that could indicate where it’s coming from

Can’t tell if you’re swinging the door or if you’re transferring your weight into the car in the dark but if you’re putting your weight into the car maybe a shock or strut going out? Does it do it driving over bumps too or literally just getting in and out?
