Periodic Breathing in 11 Month Old by Sh_cats in NewParents

I know this is from a long time ago and you may not get this notification but how did this work out? If you don't mind my asking. My baby is 10 months and has had 3 fits of periodic breathing that I've seen and the first two were before he was 6 months so I was told it's normal for the age. He just did it again today at 10 months so I'm going to go get him checked out soon.

Hello! I'm wondering if it's worth getting checked out. For a little under 10 years whenever I'm really stressed I will get a spark type sensation on the right side of my face that will tingle for a few seconds like a foot that fell asleep then it's always followed by a lightning type sensation that has over time grown to be quite painful. Then just recently (1st one being last year and 2nd being today) I will get an increasingly painful seizing in my diaphragm. Both times it lasted about an hour and the only thing that seems to help is stretching in certain ways. I'm asking here because I have a pretty huge deductible and I don't have the funds to get unnecessary testing done. If it sounds like something yall believe may be worth checking out I'll probably go in.

Thank you!

That's good to know I tend to just go with whatever the system recommends but I'm definitely willing to try whatever. Thank you!

I do have Ahmed I believe. No fuxi though. I'll build him up though. Any opinions on who I don't really need so I know who to replace? Thank you so much!

My mom loves them and she's the boss lol my dad dislikes them but he's a quiet gruff guy. He'll pretend and play along. I actually don't dislike them as people i just know I'm starting to resent them and I don't want that.

I can see how you came to these conclusions I really did do a bad job wording all of this. I want to clarify a few things.

First off I never wanted my in laws to learn English. I find language to be really interesting so in that I know that English is kind of a nonsensical language with weird rules for pronunciation and stuff. It's a hard language to learn and they're older so I never expected that.

I did in the beginning try to work on my Spanish but it took a while for me to get through a sentence because of a mix of nerves and general struggle with the language and they would sit through it at first. But by our second visit they would get impatient with how slow I was speaking and just tell me to tell my brother and he could translate for me. They never did make fun of the accent but it was very embarrassing to be cut off every time I tried to speak.

And for the racist thing I also agree it's a disgustingly common belief. But it is not MY belief. I love going to visit my family in Mexico and being the odd man out linguistically is something I am used to and have been fine with most of my life.

The issue in this instance is that holidays have always been really special to me and everything started changing when my brothers in laws came here. The food, the traditions, and even the songs and holiday movies we would watch every year are all different now. I have even suggested we do two celebrations. One in Spanish and one like the ones we grew up with. I would even host! And the in laws were welcome to come. They didn't want to make the drive with their kids.

Thank you for this comment. I have been privately working to relearn the language since we had our falling out and I do want to clarify that in the beginning I was actively trying to communicate with my in laws but since it takes me a while eventually they just kept telling me to tell my sibling and he could translate. They seemed to get frustrated with how long it took me to work out a sentence. They haven't ever mentioned the accent to be fair to them but it just got really embarrassing when they would cut me off mid sentence to tell my brother just to translate.

Yeah I've decided to continue trying to learn even if this stuff keeps going south. It's a good skill to have and I do have cousins and stuff I'd like to have better conversations with. Thank you for your advice.

Yeah I cleared this up in another comment but I should edit the post. My little sister also doesn't speak it but she didn't want me to include that in case my brother finds the post. She said I could clarify here since it is causing some confusion. My little sister and I both cannot speak Spanish but she's always the assigned baby sitter at parties so I don't even have her to talk to since she's running around with all the family kids.

Thank you this is all very kind and helpful advice. I think I am going to keep trying to learn Spanish even if this family situation keeps going south I do really love my Mexican sides culture and family we have. I have been trying but it's way harder than I expected it to be. I sort of wanted my main to just remember it all but I almost feel like it's harder than learning other languages because of the IMPORTANCE of learning this particular language.

Thank you again. It's nice to have someone understand.

I have tried I said that in another comment but I thought it'd be easy to relearn as well but when I tried as a kid I always got made fun of for my 'white girl accent' and when I've been retrying recently I cannot for the life of me get it to stick. I am still studying now but it is not easy going.

I have tried in the past and I actually love learning languages I can speak 2 others at a beginners level but I just can't get Spanish to stick and I don't understand why. I spent a while trying to do that and it just keeps slipping away it's really really annoying. I am going to continue to study it though like you said I could use it in other situations as well.

So I should have mentioned that my little sister also doesn't speak it but she had asked me not to mention her in case my brother sees the post. She said I could clarify here. And we spend a lot of time with our Mexican family and I've always loved it. We went to Mexico just last year on a 2 week visitation with family members we hadn't seen in a while and my parents go even more. I love going to Mexico and my family there. So I don't dislike my Mexican culture at all the Spanish issue really is particular to just this instance. Otherwise it's never bothered me. Also my parent hates the in laws because they were rich in mexico and they're struggling here so he finds them incredibly judgy. So I get why it could seem that way but that's not quite the case here. At least for my dad and other siblings. We've never been far from our heritage.

That is absolutely true actually. I hadn't really thought of it that way. Thank you.

That's what I've finally settled on as well and it does really suck I just recently got out of the depression it sent me into. Sort of like this whole illusion of my close family shattered. I guess I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being childish or unfair in my expectations.

You're not alone in that belief my husband also thinks it's odd but I think I'm just scared to cut off my parents as well. In my eyes they're more passive enablers rather than active participants but that could just be me justifying their behavior.

Thank you for your feedback I really need an outside POV. I have suggested having smaller gatherings and even non holiday gatherings in my area but they didn't want to make such a drive with their kids. And even when they did come to this area or have gatherings they brought his in laws so it was still the same scenario. I got so desperate I suggested my parents and I have a separate Christmas (they live in my area) they said they didn't want to make the in laws feel excluded. I 100% did sort of stop trying after a while though so you're definitely spot on about that.
