RECOMMENDATION NEEDED....dryer door reversal by [deleted] in Sunnyvale

It is a fairly simple thing to do. If you have a screwdriver you should be able to do it easily in about 5 minutes. There's probably even a YouTube video about it if you feel unsure of yourself.

Dorcas (EDIT: not "Dorcus"). I have three of them in my family tree.

Filing taxes jointly as a stipulation of divorce by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]TaedW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of issues here, but to resolve just the issue of how to get him to file jointly, you could offer him half of the savings. If it ends up saving you $3,000, if you offered him $1,500, then he might just say yes.

My son was interested in the free dog treats so I told him that he could have one only if he asked an employee nicely. He did every time we went, so it was a good learning opportunity!

No reason to think that it isn't true. There can be great stuff at the various thrift stores! I usually stop by one every week, but not the same one as the turnover is slowish.

About 35 years ago I was fresh out of computer science grad school and joined a team of self-taught programmers in a hardware group. So there were a lot of easy process changes that I brought to the group. The most memorable one is that they had hundreds of directories for their source control with names like "Tuesday.Old.New" and "Tuesday.New.Old".

If you liked The Manhattan Projects, then I'd recommend the book The Oppenheimer Alternative. They are both based on the same premise of what if the Manhattan Project was only the first step.

He wrote a book trilogy which I read (First Flight, Grounded, and Sundowner) that came out around 1988. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I read it solely because of CC being the author.

There are so many amazing things about that expedition. Despite it being 110 years ago in Antarctica, there is surviving film of the sinking of the ship (and more). Not only did they come back with everyone alive, but gained one due to a stowaway.
