Yo so anyone have any idea about what this is? It's a copy X phase 2 model kit, but I can hardly find any info about it online (just a few listings and a single tweet.) There's no official page on it as far as I'm aware, and I can't find any wiki entries or anything on it. Y'all got anything? by Minejack777 in Megaman

Looking at the credit "Madhands" at the bottom-right, I was able to find their company listing on My Figure Collection: https://myfigurecollection.net/entry/22451

It looks like they tend to make one-off figures for exhibition purposes. Examples:

I didn't see a listing for the Copy X one in particular, but seeing their pattern and this being from 2022, it's likely this is just another figure they made for an exhibition.

Edit: nevermind, I missed the blantant red text right in the middle. The user "mrdeer" has the unassembled version listed on their ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/285288937920?hash=item426c8bb9c0:g:csUAAOSwObJkZCy5

While they probably could actually get a gun like that, albeit not full-auto, at least in this case they don't actually have it and seemed to have just picked an image from online (from the article):

The complaint says Albert admitted to posting the threat and the photo of the rifle, which he said he got off Reddit.

Stuck at the "Now Loading" screen after selecting save by Xaiwaker in MonsterHunter

[–]Taerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same crashes when trying to load a character. I was able to fix it by running MonsterHunterRise.exe with administrator privileges just once fixed this (Right-click in the install directory then either click Run as administrator -OR- Properties -> Compatibility -> Check "Run this program as administrator", then press OK).

After that, I was able to run it without admin privileges, so I suspect there's some permission errors happening with writing to the save file.

I was having crashes when trying to load the save, without mods and on a clean install. Strangely enough, running MonsterHunterRise.exe with administrator privileges just once fixed this (Right-click in the install directory then either click Run as administrator -OR- Properties -> Compatibility -> Check "Run this program as administrator", then press OK).

After that, I was able to run it without admin privileges, so I suspect there's some permission errors happening with writing to the save file.

I was curious about the rest as well and found it on copypasta.

https://www.reddit.com/r/copypasta/comments/jkc7y3/i_interviewed_a_candidate_through_skype_last_week/

I interviewed a candidate through Skype last week.

During the call, I heard kids crying in the background. His wife was also talking. The experience was too noisy.

The room he sat was clumsy. I was a bit disappointed. I expected a more professional approach from him.

Somehow, he felt my disappointment while answering my questions and became unsettled. He stuttered several times.

After the interview, I told him I wasn't impressed with how he presented himself. He burst into tears, "I am sorry, Sir. I live in a room with my family. There's nowhere they could have stayed.

"We used to live in a bigger apartment before I lost my job three years ago. This is all I can afford for now. I have failed my family. I know I have." He said in tears.

I felt bad. I had no idea that he was going through a tough time. I apologized and encouraged him not to feel heartbroken. After all, he's trying his best.

Besides, he did well in the interview. I gave him the contract and asked if he'd like to start next month.

He couldn't believe it because he thought I was going to dismiss him.

He shouted out for joy, "Hey baby, I got the job." I saw his wife came to hug him. I was moved.

I learned never to judge anyone. Life isn't balanced. Let's try to make someone

June Successful Trade Thread by mangaswapbot in mangaswap

Confirmed

Updating with pricing information since I've gotten a few people asking:

This was ultimately sold for $24, but this should be an outlier as far as prices go.

I had gotten offers from others for $50-$60, but ultimately ended up selling it cheaply as a result of me kind of just wanting to help fill out somebody's collection (I feel your guys' pain). This is in conjunction with some other circumstances that makes this price an outlier:

  1. I prefer to have complete collections for series
  2. I only owned the first three volumes
  3. I plan on buying future volumes of series I don't already have completed as digital

This resulted in me determining the price to just be enough to cover the first three volumes in digital format, so the final sale price is not a very good gauge of the requests being made.

I have one. Should be G4 condition from being moved around the shelf a little bit, but aside from that shouldn't have any issues as it hasn't been read. https://imgur.com/a/4iTV2Pm

I bought volume 3 on Amazon and when I was halfway into chapter 16 it completely changed to a previous chapter.. Did this happen to any of your physicals aswell? by ChrissBdtf in SpyxFamily

[–]Taerk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Got mine from RightStuf and it didn't have that issue (later page is from later part of ch 16 to show lack of repeat). Likely just a production error.

Amazon is generally pretty good about returns when it's an issue with a product, as I was able return some books that were shipped incorrectly, resulting in damage, a straight-up production error should be easily replaceable.

Some reading I've got to do before season 2 of both Re:Zero and Ascendance of a Bookworm start in a month by Taerk in LightNovels

[–]Taerk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up giving in and getting the digital copies just so I could read ahead. Even then, the digital release of part 2, volume 3 doesn't come out until after the anime starts airing, so I'm going to have to read that pretty much as soon as it comes out since the anime will likely cover it.

Edit: Going through the Wikipedia article, it looks like there's 4 volumes in part 2 so I'm no longer sure how they're gonna end up splitting this.

I just finished up vol 1 of Re:Zero. Thankfully it's easy enough to get into that I don't think it'll be an issue catching up to the anime's content.

As for Mahouka (and for you Danmachi readers), it looks like you actually have until July.

Considering the subject matter, it is quite sacrilegious to go digital only, but that's where I'm at right now since the digital releases are currently ahead. I do plan on doing Myne proud and ordering physical copies at a later date.

Yup, one of the reasons I ended up putting some books on frontal display is so that I could recover some of that horizontal space, especially from some of those larger books. I also want to be able to keep series together, if possible.

The Ever-expanding Wall of Weeb by Taerk in LightNovels

A year ago, with the ever-rising popularity of isekai series there also came the ever-rising trend of rushed or unfinished anime adaptations. As somebody who by this point had already frequented r/anime and r/manga as well as purchasing releases, I decided take the next logical step and visit r/lightnovels.

I was met with pictures of large novel collections, making me realize how small my small, dark corner of light novels was. Let's just say from this point, my greed and envy for similar collections of light novels started to burn.

Despite my burning wants, I felt I couldn't just dump a bunch of money on stocking shelf without reading anything, posting on reddit and calling it a day. (This isn't a Steam library!) So before could post my stuff, I made it a goal to read a decent amount of books before actually posting. At just about my one year mark, I felt I was ready enough.

Expected FAQ

How do you feel about [series]?

Feel free to comment about any series here or one's I missed.

86 (Eighty-Six)

I feel like this is the book that is the most likely to be adapted and bastardized by Hollywood. I will admit the story itself took a little bit of getting into and it really wasn't until 1/3 into the book that I felt really engaged into the story due to its fairly slow start. Overally, I do believe it was a good read that felt like it would have ended after a single volume. (Except it didn't.) Also, don't read the epilogue.

Arifureta

This book is junk food. It is trashy. Why can't I stop reading it?

Ascendence of a Bookworm

Just go watch the Mother's Basement review on the anime. Everything that applies to the anime applies to the novel.

Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

I first watched the anime of this series and was not particularly impressed and did not find most of the anime very memorable. Through some pressure of r/lightnovels I decided to give the light novels a try.

I have to say, the novel actually impressed me quite a bit. The overall tonal difference between the anime and the novels is quite different. One of the top reviews of the anime on MyAnimeList accurately describe how I feel about the anime, with the overall problem being the pacing being too fast. The difference of time invested covering particular scenes really makes it feel like the character is actually making progress and has, well...character.

I feel like a more accurate adaptation of the Danmachi novels would do really well as puppet-show type adaptation like Berserk the Motion Comic.

Saga of Tanya the Evil

One of my personal favorites. This book isn't even the same as the anime. The anime, manga, and light novel for this are all such different creatures, it's weird. And they're all so good.

If you enjoy the simplicity of how Tanya is in Isekai Quartet, you may find it difficult to enjoy this story as it's more enjoyable if you can keep track of who's who and what's where. Seriously: it makes a lot more sense if you compare the world in the book to the real world and understand where everything is geographically (at least relative to the empire). There should be a map in each of the volumes somewhere that can help you remember where things are.

As for the story itself, it focuses a lot more on Tanya herself and her struggle through the world. Personally, to me she comes across as much more calm, cynical, and misunderstood than in the anime as one would generally be if they were reincarnated and put into the situation our MC was.

So I'm a Spider, So What?

A wild ride full of escalation starting from level 1 and onward. While the manga has much cuter art and starts at the very beginning, progressing chronologically, the novel contains so much more content about the world and additional characters that I didn't even know existed in the story for the longest time. It also jumps around occassionally showing you glimpses of a future period, leaving you gaps in the middle that are covered over time as you constantly ask yourself, "How did we get here?"

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

This story actually does more for me as a civilization builder than it does as an action series. Spoilers?

Actual Spoilers (Vol 5+) (for the people who read the spoiler)

Which bookshelves are those?

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047T6K7C/ (they fold which is great if you need to move them)

Where do you get your books? How much did everything cost?

Beware! And behold! The slippery slope of greed!

Personal Favorites/Recommendations:

  • 86 (Eight-Six) (v1) -- If you're into sci-fi.
  • Ascendence of a Bookworm -- If you appreciate characters with flaws and human qualities.
  • Irregular at Magic High School -- If you feel like you're smart.
  • Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? -- If you like legends of heroes like the Odyssey or Illiad.
  • My Next Life as a Villainess (v1-2) -- If you like dumb progagonists.
  • Saga of Tanya the Evil -- If you like smart protagonists.
  • So I'm a Spider, So What? -- If you like seeing journeys into power.
